    Separation of Church and State

Quite bluntly, I'm all for a STRICT separation. Theocracy's now days aren't valuable. And politicians are using the bible as a tool. Okay I'm conservative, and I do believe in God. The difference between me and those religious zealots outside is I have compassion for people. For example the bible says that homosexuals were either born that way, or made so by man. "Made that way by man" doesn't mean someone forced them to be gay. I remember that the majority percentage of gays were left handed and the youngest of brothers in men. Coincidence?

But I don't want to debate about homosexuality. I want to talk about Church and State.

You know, Theocracy's lead to conflicting societal beliefs when we have such a diverse culture on religion. Mainly you have atheist and prodestant. But a government also bases laws and morals on these old scripts. So in the large view, you step in, but not all the way....

The best way I can think to describe it right now, is that the conflict is in the conflict...

Yeah, but then there's the whole "One Nation, Under God" thing.
    ...and that's why.

Athiests who get things like the Pledge banned in schools **** me off. At the same time, Bush winning the election because he panders to Southern Baptists ****es me off even more.

I remember that the majority percentage of gays were left handed and the youngest of brothers in men.

A pledge of allegiance doesn't control how we act nor does it say specifically that we're all a god-fearing nation. It just says we were a god-fearing nation.
        ...and that's why.

Actually it was just one guy who decided to include that line, possibly because of his own beliefs. As I remember it back in the early 20th century he was asked to write it with very little supervision or anything like that.

Oh, I always thought it was one of those things as old as the Constitution.

Still, you can't deny that our country was founded by Protestant mo-fo's.

I'm not sure, in the beginning they were Puritan which is a different thing, but I'm not sure if the people who were around in 1776(which I'm sure is the group that you're refereing to) were protestants or not.

Protestants = any Jesus lover who broke away from Roman Catholicism for whatever reason and made his own religion (Baptists, Puritans, Methodists). Most immigrants came to the Americas because they were being persecuted by Catholics for being Protestant.

And damnit, this is what I get for taking you off ignore.

Re: Separation of Church and State

I thought "under God" was added when we wanted to seperate ourselves from the rooskies, who were "godless Commie bastards." I remember when the whole pledge thing was brought up.

I also believe in the seperation. They should take the 10 commandments out of the courthouse cuz they're invalid...you can break most of those in this country and it's legal. If they have the 10 commandments in a government courthouse, I wanna see a big statue of Vishnu outside an Indian judge's courthouse.

Also, it's not that a majority of gays are left handed, it's that there are more gay lefties then there are straight guys (percentage wise, and a significant amount).

I found the study. "Putting together the results of 20 previous studies that involved more than 23,000 men and women, the scientists concluded that the odds of being left-handed are 39 per cent higher in homosexuals than in heterosexuals." Damn near %40 is pretty significant.

Not topic hijacking, just thought that lil issue should be clarified.
