Does the Dual Shock just turn off for anyone else?

I got Omega Boost today, and during a boss fight in Zone 3, the analog of my Dual Shock just turned off. I turned it on again, thinking I might've tapped it by accident, but then a couple of seconds later, it went off again.

I had this problem a long time ago, but I don't remember when exactly... Anyone else have this kind of problem? Is it the game or the controller?

I don't even realize when it's on or off anymore. Kind of scary.

It's happened to me a lot lately with a couple of games I rented. But then it doesn't do it at all with the games I've had all along. I don't know if the controllers going buggy or if some games are just more sensitive. Sometimes it seemed like lots of vibration was contributing to the problem.

Its usually because the conector (the part that goes in the console) isnt all the way in.
Just unplug it and plug it back in, jimmy it a little. That usually fixes it.
Just happens because the conector is so wide, really.

It's never happened to me, but my PS2 is very new.

My controllers cord is almost cut in half, so I have to angle it the right way or itll just stop receiving info.

So no, never had YOUR problem.

For some reason on some games it'll just go through a 30-second or so spell where the analog keeps switching on and off resulting in "controller not connected" messages popping in and out. Then it'll be fine again. Sometimes I fiddle with the connector, sometimes I don't bother. It doesn't seem to have an effect the oddness lasts the same amount of time either way. And my PS2 is still less than a year old.

You could make sure it's plugged in all the way.

I never have a difficult problem turning my Dual Shock on.

Yeah, I could. The game mostly involves 1) moving and 2) shooting. I stopped moving, but I was still shooting. I didn't expect them to be on different layers.

Actually, for a while, I thought the boss was hitting me so hard that it knocked my analog off.

                      No analog problems here.

I got the exact same prob with 'Omega Boost'. I just switch the Dual Shock back on.. So far it only happened to that, plus a few other PS1 games.
                        That might be it.

Both my controls have this problem.

I've never had this problem. But, a lot of PS1 games turn off Analog by default. It might not be the controller but rather the game.

Now VR Missions is doing it. Sometimes when I fail the mission, and sometimes when I'm just chokin' a guy.
