Inspiration or Mindless Rambling?

I've got this idea for something I want to do for XP. It's very priliminary. What do you guys think of this basic premise. I know it's not very origional on paper but I think it's got potential.

Centuries ago man lived on Hell, a planet that they had abused. man destoryed Hell's environment and used up all of its resources. Before the situation became critical man decided to move to Heaven, a nearby planet that was untouched by man, but also unable to sustain life. Man spent years terraforming Heaven and it became a refuge for man. At least to those wealthy enough to afford it. Man also ensured that Heaven would not fall victim to the same woes as Hell. In the present Heaven is a paradise. It's inhabitants lead wonderful lives without problems or troubles. For any trouble makers on Heaven are sentenced to life on Hell. The people of Heaven are unaware of their homes darkside. Of those who rule the planet behind closed doors and control its fate.

However, all is destined to change when a man from the Hell makes it to Heaven. Those in charge of Heaven plan to control him for their own purposes. But instead of forsaking those he left behind in Hell this man will fight for his friend and family and attempt to bring down those in charge of Heaven. He will open the Gates to Heaven.

PS Heaven and Hell are simply placemarkers for the planets names.
I'll probably go with Cyrus Jackson for the main character's name.
And I kinda like the idea of Gates to Heaven or Gates of Heaven for the title.

Haven't played any RPGM games in a long time, so I can't really tell what stories would make a good games. This is a good story, though.

I could alwasy have one of the characters be named Ron Mexico. And a pre-emptive no to Terr. I won't be having Heaven politicians be subject to rioting and upheaval by crazed bikers.

Anyway, sounds like an Earth vs. Mars sort of deal. Humans **** up the Earth, so they terraform Mars to make it habitable. Maybe you could not give the planets said names given that terraforming Mars to be habitable outside any life support enclosures would literally take 10,000+ years, and perhaps they had a few modifications to their names over time.

The story's good, but have you thought of where the man who opened heaven's gate would go? Or is that the begining, and then when you start the game, you are the guy from hell and you walk up to heaven's gates and open them and then game over? Either way it would be an awesome game.

But obviously the heaven/hell connotations will still play heavily into the narrative, right?

As for the names, are you going for thinly cloaked, like "Zion" and "Gehenna," or is it something to be progressively revealed later? Even just using the names heaven and hell works because it makes your reinterpretation more effective.

The Heaven/Hell and Earth/Mars things are both correct. I'm not going to make this Earth and Mars, but the idea is that the planets in the game might as well be Earth and Mars. And since this is a game, and thus make believe, I feel that I can get away with the Earth/Hell planet having more advanced technology for terraforming and the Mars/Heaven planet being origionally more suitable for terraforming. That way I can get away with having the terraforming process only take up a handful of centuries.

Or I can have them do it by magic. Yeah, it was all done with magic.

As far as the names of the planets I'd like to keep away from such literal allusions to heaven and hell. I might have Heaven use such direct allusions, but that will be because everything on heaven was named by the beauracrats from Hell and beauracrats by their nature have no imagination and would think that using something Biblical like Zion is clever.(pro-tip for everyone using RPG Maker, it's not).

But I tend to perfer using descriptive terms such as Haven or Paradise.



And this was a spur of the moment inspiration that I got while reading a book about parallell Earths. So I don't have anything more than what's in this topic. I'm most likely going to do AoB first as a learning game for RMXP

It sounds cool, but what would the actual adventure be. Where would the main character travel too and meet on his quest?
