3 more weeks until RPG Maker 3, I can't wait. I'm trying to find a good game worthy of my money that can hold me until I get my pre-ordered copy of RPG Maker 3. Does anyone know of a good RPG other than any of the Final Fantasy series? I have already beat all the Final Fantasy games and want something to inspire me.

Re: Recommended RPG
I'm playing Atelier Iris and it rocks in my book. I wanted to finish it before posting but what the heck: I like it a lot. Story is a bit cliché but well executed and substantial. Graphics are very nice 2Dish. Some music is really good. Voice acting is very, very good. (Original discs had a glitch whereby some of the voice acting gets cut off sometimes. I have such discs, however, the glitch hasn't occured enough times for me to care. I *think* NIS America will replace defective discs.)
I think it's unfortunate Atelier Iris has received such a warm reception. I'm wishing for this game not to end, and it already ranks as a very memorable RPG up there with Final Fantasy IX.

Re: Recommended RPG
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Grandia Xtreme
Shadow Hearts 1 and 2
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Suikoden 3
Xenosaga 1 and 2
Those are what I would recommend, even though I havent finished a single one of those games, but I did enjoy from what I played of them. Also, for reference, I have only completed like 12 games out of the 90 games I own for my PS2 and Gamecube, so me not finishing the games isn't really a reliable way to judge if they are any good.

Re: Recommended RPG
If you're into racing games, you can pick up Gran Turismo 4--it's one of the best in my book. In a few days, I plan on picking up Burnout Revenge.
For RPGs, I have a suggestion--even though this game is rather old. Dark Cloud.
Very fun game if you can find it, and it's been at a good price for a few years now.
If you're a fighting game fanatic like I am, I'd also suggest Street Fighter Anniversary Collection, Guilty Gear X2 and Mortal Kombat Deception.

Re: Recommended RPG
Oh my God, I can't believe my eyes. Xenosaga I, Disgaea, Legaia 2, and Star Ocean 3 are TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, AWFUL games. I can't speak for the other games that were recommended, but dear Lord don't get these. Out of all the games I own, the only ones I've sold are Disgaea and Starr Ocean 3. I would've sold Legaia 2 too but I won't get crap for it. My list should back my credibility on its own.
Alas, here's my list of recommendations: (includes some strategy rpgs) (it is roughly in order of best to least best)
Brigandine (PS)
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together (PS)
Final Fantasy 7 (PS)
Final Fantasy Tactics (PS)
Saiyuki: Journey to the West (PS)
Star Ocean 2 (PS)
Final Fantasy 6 (PS)
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES)
Arc the Lad I (PS)
Arc the Lad II (PS) (I'm almost done with this, I have the 3rd and will play it soon)
Chrono Cross (PS)
Chrono Trigger (PS)
Final Fantasy X (PS2)
Final Fantasy 9 (PS)
Ogre Battle: Person of Lordly Caliber (N64)
Tactics Ogre: A Knight of Lodis (GBA)
Fire Emblem (GBA)
There may a few I missed, so I can come back and post more as they come to me if you'd like.
edit: Anyone who wants to argue with me, look on my list and count the games you haven't played (more than 5 minutes) from it. Brigandine and Saiyuki are practically unheard of. I'd be surprised if there was more than one person here who has them. Here's a topic where I asked something similar to this, got a list of 250+ games, and read review after review after review and narrowed the list down to roughly 40. I've done the research.

edit: Regarding the topic I linked to, the only games I ended up planning on getting and regreting having got them are Lunar 1/2and Valkyrie Profile (not for $80, $30'd be alright).
