What happens when you are drowsy while driving home? Well, for the past three months, mostly nothing. Until today.
I wasn't even halfway home before I was falling asleep again (it's a half-hour drive). Now, I don't really speed; I try to go the speed limit (my speedometer's off by some-odd amount, likely 5), much to the dismay of people traveling behind me half the time. And yet I still sometimes wind up behind slower people. Anyway, it didn't help that there has been some road construction going on lately. I started nodding off at one point, and looked back up in time to see that I was one second away from hitting a truck stopped due to the construction. So I swerved off away from the truck. Except, I swerved into oncoming traffic. I wound up losing the left headlight, the guy I hit got a big dent in his door (he tried swerving out of the way). I didn't feel a jerk you'd expect from a wreck; all that was on my mind at the time was the guy I'm hitting, and the debree from my car flying in front of me.
Surprisingly, the car was still drivable. Aside from the left fender was bent in so that I couldn't turn right very easily (that was fixed). But I've got no left front light now. Not even a working turn signal. I didn't get hurt at all, and the guy I hit got away from a couple cuts and a sore arm and back; dunno what his exact condition is. I'm glad I didn't seriously hurt him though; the funny thing is, this was both of our first time in a wreck. Shame it was my fault.
As for the car, it can possibly be fixed; if not, no big loss. It's a '94 Dodge Spirit. Really, my biggest worry right now is the no-doubt costly consiquences this will have; increased insurance, possibly paying for new parts, and my dad says I need new tires (not from the wreck, just from years of use). I've been planning on getting a computer. No way to do that now, though thankfully, my roomy has one ordered anyway. Though this means I won't be able to get both RPGM3 and RMXP at once.
