    Spyware? I think? Help?

I keep getting these pop ups that say "Messenger Service." It looks like a system pop up, but they keep saying my registry has errors, and to download (insert registry program here) from www.blahblah.com. I downloaded a registry cleaner cause I got sick of the pop ups (not one the messenger listed) and tried to clean it out. I'm still getting the pop ups. I'm running Windows XP Professional. Anyone know how to fix this?

Well try to use Spyware Search and Destroy

but for a good registry cleaner try this. http://www.ccleaner.com/ it works.

    Or use Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

I had that, just go to run put in services.msc and disable Messenger.

There is something for adaware that disables the windows messenger. it's a plug in. It's called messenger control plug-in.

Hijack This is fun, but you have to be careful or you'll destroy your computer. Great fun if you know what you're doing.

Yep. I had that problem once a while back, and disabling Messenger fixed her right up.

Course, if I re-enable it, it'll probably come back. Not that I especially need it or anything.

I'm pretty sure the only reason you would need messenger is if you have several computers linked.
