Can the "you must spread around reputation" message not apply if you haven't given any reputation in like x-number of days?

I mean I really just wanna rep some posts here without wandering around trying to find other rep worthy stuff man

There's no setting to do that. It's all about point spread. I would love to implement this, but I have no idea how.

I don't think we really have to worry about a bunch of people rep-bombing each other if we do remove the cap. I'm pretty sure we'd notice if people suddenly gained four normal goblis and a few gold ones, to boot~

Also, I'm sure some of us admins (like myself) wouldn't mind perusing the rep log on occasion to make sure the system wasn't being abused.

As for negative rep... Don't you think it's about time we re-implement that for a little while? You'd think that after so many years, we would have matured a bit! I think it should at least be given a trial-run. Actually... Is it possible to give negative rep privileges to specific groups of people? We might be able to work out a system that promotes reasonable usage and discourages abuse.

I think most usage of negative reputation was reasonable, and justified.

Unfortunately, too many people reacted very negatively when they recieved negative rep points. We lost some members over it. While the typical response to that might be "oh well, they over-reacted, and need thicker skin", I want the atmosphere of this place to be friendly and welcoming. Negative rep does not fit into that. Have a problem with someone? Instead of throwing negative rep at them, reply to them in a topic, or send them a PM. It's far more constructive.

Negative reputation directly conflicts with how I want to run the pavilion. I do not see it coming back any time soon, if ever.

the spread limit though? I personally like people needing to spread reputation points around, but I know I'm pretty much alone on this. So as of today, that spread limit is gone.

You're still limited to giving out rep points 7 times a day, though.

Just got rid of basically the only annoying thing about rep (the spread requirement), and I love this rationale as to why negative rep simply doesn't belong here.
