There are limitations like 100 characters, 300 items, 20 fields. But there's also the percentage of data usage. Will it get to 100% and stop me, even if I have less than 3,000 events and less than 100 characters and less than 300 items, etc.?

Re: Question about data usage.
Yes - you're unlikely to be able to fill up all of those limits before you hit the Data Usage limit. Unfortunately, the ~2700KB limit which DU represents is not flexible in RM3.
The biggest memory drainers are any complicated event scripting that you do, and field maps.

Re: Question about data usage.
I haven't tried making anything big or real-game-like yet. I've mostly done small projects that I throw away. I just started doing something I've never tried: making a game with battles instead of only story. I was intimidated by battle balancing, but now I think I'm mature enough to try it.
Like my other games, this one is simple. Broad Strokes, if I'm using the term right. The only characters that exist are ones for the main quest or side quests. There's only 3 towns and 4 dungeons on the main map (though I'll be making a 2nd and 3rd field to be used as outdoor dungeons). With me making this sorta simple game, do you guys think I'll be safe from the 99.9% thing?

Re: Question about data usage.
Good news: unless you're doing something painfully complex like a custom level-up or currency system, or huge choice branches (which would need to span hundreds and hundreds of lines of code), I don't see you even getting close to the 99.9% Data Usage limit with a setup like that. Maybe 20-40%.Originally posted by Dunmer999 View PostLike my other games, this one is simple. Broad Strokes, if I'm using the term right. Re: Question about data usage.
Yeah, you'll be perfectly FINE. Hell, Terra Incognita (my current game) has roughly 15 dungeons so far, filled with different custom puzzles as well as seven field maps and items, characters and a few bosses and I'm only at roughly 30%.

Re: Question about data usage.
You can't. Games made with RPG Maker 3 have a preset file size of 2705kb. You cannot go higher, although there are tricks to link multiple files together.
If you do create a game that spans 64mb worth of game file swaps (which would be a tedious nightmare), I can guarantee that no one will ever even consider playing it.Last edited by Valkysas; 06-06-2011, 03:40 AM.

Re: Question about data usage.
It wouldn't matter, I bought one of these a week ago and you still can't store more than 3 files on the card.
It was a let down. Although, I no longer have to use three memory cards for my save files, so thats a plus.
