      Re: Thor

It was pretty good but the script played things pretty safe. The love buildup felt rather bland ("this is how the universe works, wench, now kiss me") and there were a lot of wasted opportunities (I was expecting a big battle with the frost giants near the end). G4 and other sources were playing up Thor's fellow gang like Sif but it turns out they have maybe 15 minutes of combined screen time (half of that is spent lounging). The movie had a troubled development cycle and the previews make it look terrible so it was better than expected. Here's hoping for Captain America.

Now Green Lantern... that **** is going to be the next Superman Returns, blech.

You weren't satisfied by the big frost giant battle at the BEGINNING?

          Re: Thor

they really should've cut that battle shorter and used the extra time to make more dialogue/development opportunities for Thor on Earth. He just kinda, "OK, I'm humble now." and Natalie just kinda, "OK, I love this guy now" like a horny schoolgirl.

It really makes Thor's destruction of the rainbow bridge really pointless for the audience. I mean, it's supposed to be another "sacrifice" because now he can't get to the girl, but we can't care at all because their love was hamfisted into our faces.

I mean I'm not familiar with Thor canon, but with the way the movie sets things up, it would've made more sense if his love interest had been the Xena warrior princess.

Had the chance to see it but did not. That's life.

I didn't think Superman Returns was awful...maybe I need to see it again.

I would have preferred a bigger one at the end instead of Thor and Loki's playful wrestling match.

Only movie I'm interested in seeing this summer is X-Men First Class. I assumed it'd be worthless until the trailers started coming out. Of course trailers are often deceiving. Other than that maybe Super 8 but I know next to nothing about it.

Thor, Green Lantern, & Cap just haven't grabbed my attention.

I thought it was good! Better than Iron Man 2 that's FO SHO.

And I agree, the script could've been better especially the undercooked character development stuff. It was all very surface, especially Portman's horny schoolgirl attitude and Thor's "Yeah, I respect life and people now and stuff."

                  Like, when

                  *** SPOILERS ***
Loki's gonna kill ALL the frost giants, Thor's "You can't kill a whole race~" came outta nowhere for me. And then Loki asks "WHY NOT?!" and... I was with Loki there. Why not, Thor? What did you learn on Earth that made you say that? Thor didn't really have much of an argument at that point.

I just hope Marvel remembers their all-important characters need, uh, character.

                  SPEAKIN' OF

X-men First Class. Besides Xavier and Magneto who is there to care about? ****in'.. Havok? Respect to Neal Adams, but... mmyeeeeeeeeeehhh.

Cap looks good. I think. Definitely looks like the most interesting of the superhero bunch.

                  Green Lantern... yeeeeeeesh.

Thor looked kinda dumb to me. Don't care to see it. I never cared about him as a Marvel superhero though, so I'm a tad biased on that front.

Hmm...not so sure, not with that director.

I loved Thor by the way, the development wasn't quite a slam dunk but honestly the acting was so damn good and the villain so satisfying that I didn't care.

                        It was beautiful, too.

I wish Branagh did half as good with Frankenstein...

                          Maybe it's the MGS3-style ridiculous goings-on in a real-world war setting?
