    So, about the Canadian Election.

As much as I hate that conservatives won, is anyone excited to see what the NDP will do?

    And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

No, I haven't moved past the crippling depression of knowing what Harper can and likely will do with actual power.

        Canada had an election?

Mostly kidding here. I saw the news, but I don't see it as any particular concern.

Canada: Where you can be convicted in contempt of government, yet still be re-elected.

I'm embarrassed to be Albertan. I can only hope he sticks to fiscal conservatism, and stops Americanizing Canada.

Oh don't worry, America also doesn't allow ongoing investigations to interfere with their votes.

It is getting worse. Harper is dead set on railroading several new bills into place.

The C52 bill. The bill that will turn Canada into a Surveillance state. Having internet access will allow the government to monitor your traffic, and grants access to all your private information(Health, SIN etc).

Had the supreme court judge that his personal office schedule is not covered by the freedom of information act. We aren't allowed to know who and when he is meeting people in his office.

Some of this **** is terrifying.

Canada Food Inspection Agency biologist fired after speaking out about plans to weaken regulations and allow corporate producers to conduct their own inspections.

Tory science minister Gary Goodyear doesn't accept evolution.

In 2010, Harper eliminated funding for Sister in Spirit. A non-profit organization that provides support for missing or slain aboriginal women.

So Armored, weren't you all tighty-righty a couple years back. What exactly changed your mind?

I have some extreme right views and some extreme left views. What I've discovered with Harper is that my extreme right views aren't what he has in mind. In my life I've voted Liberal, Conservative, NDP and Green. Conservative is the one party that will never get my vote again.

Not that it matters, I live in ****ing Alberta.

                    Yeah, no kidding...

Well I'm actually cautiously (read: ignorantly) optimistic of the next provincial election. With Stelmach stepping down, and 2 more right-of-center parties competing, here's hoping the scatter plot will hit some different places for a change.

Ultimately, voter apathy is the only thing keeping us something something...

Yeah I think the obliteration of the Bloc and a possible emergence of one these right wing parties is what Canada needs right now. Its a damn shame that Conservatives will always vote Conservative because they have no option.

                        This is a pseudo bump.

Harpers C-32 bill strips Canadians of Internet privacy, and is dangerously close to being passed with little public debate.

Its because they kept it all hush hush, and most people dont even know about it. A couple channels are airing the ads that are against it, and some reporter went around out here in vancouver asking people on the street about it, and every single person was like WHOAH WHAT? THATS NOT RIGHT.

jesus christ this is actually going through? **** me, this cant pass or its quite a dark day for internet privacy. the US can make their own funny laws up, leave canada to have our own approach.

an ip doesnt prove much of anything other then belonging to specific person who paid for the internet. what about people who break into others ip addresses or those who use programs create backdoors into others computers to hide their own activities? will an internet isp become as important as a social security number?

i think we should all pitch in and buy a satellite and use that for private internet.

if this passes then their is going to be a massive court back up of intellectual property right holders suing people they feel are downloading illegally. i guess its a good day to be a lawyer, certainly not a good one to be a canadian.

i thought it was illegal for a company to provide your private data to a secondary source without your explicit permission. if your information has to be given to another party, shouldnt you at least be notified that its happening so you can have your own lawyers involved to prevent it?

they probably just gave the lawyers everyones facebook page.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?
