    City or location defining movies

When you think of a specific location, what movie comes to mind? I'll get us started w/ a couple.

Chicago --> Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Could this movie be any more Chicago? It's a great movie, but it's almost like a tourist's guide to the place. The Art Museum, Sears Tower (Now the Willis Tower or "Big Willie"), Wrigley Field and more...every once in a while, I still make dinner reservations for Abe Froman, the sausage king of Chicago.

    Los Angeles --> Collatoral

I know this is a harsh angle on the city, but it's what I think of when I think of Los Angeles. Both the dreams and harsh realities are shown through Jamie Foxx's character, and the seedy grotesque underbelly no one wants to admit is there through Tom Cruise's assassin. Plus, w/ all the winding roads and how disjointed the city is, it makes sense that we access the different parts of the city via cab. Also, may be my favorite Tom Cruise performance.

For a few years there, Wayne's World had pretty much come to define people's concept of Delaware.

Luckily Wayne's World references didn't really have a tremendous amount of longevity.

The theme park I used to work at became the filming spot for Zombieland. Most of the rides in the film I can easily identify and recall fondly. i would say aside from that and being TitleTown USA for a year, nobody outside a 75 mile radius would give a damn about the place.

Savannah GA has the spot where they filmed Gump sitting on a bench. I drove past it. There's actually several spots exactly like it. A very beautiful part of the town.

Also I'm in Wichita, Kansas now, so uhh... follow that yellow brick road. Seriously, no one thinks, "air capital USA" or "most restaurants per square mile" or "birthplace of Pizza Hut". Just "that state where there's tornados and Dorothy and Toto."
        ...and that's why.

LOL, hate to break it to you, that's how my brother and I still think of it. My brother flies there periodically for his job to check up on his programmer lackeys, and texts me, "hello...I'm in...Deleware..."

Los Angeles makes me think of L.A. Confidential.

And I *smack* Kire because he was the first person to recommend that movie to me which quickly became my second favorite movie EVER, only for him to turn around and mention Collateral, which I have never seen and have no intention of seeing.

Also, Astoria, Oregon makes me think of The Goonies. Every time someone brings up Astoria, Oregon in everyday conversation we get to talking about the beautiful Pacific coastline and eventually we're like "oh, yeah, also...GOONIES!" Like, 4ever, man.

Whenever I think of Astoria I think of Kindergarten Cop.

                Sorry, everybody.

It's OK...Astoria has had such an impact on movies that you really can't go wrong.

Rambo First Blood was filmed about 30 minutes from here. Hope, BC.

Yes, I am here. Where I am at currently is so boring, I was driven to come back.

Hell if I know if it was even filmed in Minnesota, but Drop Dead Gorgeous gives me my only impression of it.
