Remember when Yu-Gi-Oh! was really popular?

I actually recently, slowly, got back into dueling, and I figured "hey let's make a thread about Yu-Gi-Oh! at the Pav". Anyone here have a deck or remember having one? My current deck's part Rock and part Machine, it's mostly (and soon will be completely) Earth-based.

I played, ages ago. probably been something like 8 years or so since I sold all my cards. Game got too damn complicated, and the show was always garbage.

I can't say I disagree. I mean I could cut the GX cards some slack because there were geniunely some good cards there, but once 5Ds came around I pretty much gave up because the whole Synchro crap was too complicated and in my opinion, too cheap. That and they appearantly added a Psychic-type to the monster types... Pretty much while GX had some issues, it was still alright, but 5Ds probably killed what little steam the card game had left.

I remember everyone flipping their **** back in the day because Magic The Gathering had the Onslaught block at the time that used a "morph" function that let you play cards face down, then the next block they introduced Equipment, then the next was set entirely in an asian themed world.

I never got into the cards beside buying a starter deck and playing with my cousin a few times. But I really enjoyed playing it on DS. I hoping the inevitable 3DS game does ARG with the real cards.

Loved the game back in the day; played a tiny bit in real life and a whole lot over Apprentice.

The whole power-creep aspect was really evident here because so many cards just simply had ATK/DEF values. That's a big part of what eventually turned me off to the game. But it was fun while it lasted.

A lot of my campers were really into the game and it was fun to watch them play. This was back in '03 and '04. I have no idea whether today's ten-year-olds are into it but in a way I really hope they are.

I found myself using Light creatures quite a lot and even made an all-light deck once (which didn't work too well).

My favorite deck of mine was a "Special Summon" deck which had a ton of different ways to Special Summon monsters (Reasoning, Question, discards + Monster Reborn, Magician of Faith to get the MR back, and so on). It always worked amazingly for the first game or two until my opponents caught on and then it was just OK.

I'll admit to really liking the first US season of Yu-Gi-Oh (the Duelist Kingdom arc), and even enjoying a few of the earlier GX episodes. Seto Kaiba was a complete loser, though.

I could never believe in the power of the cards because I was playing Pokemon TCG.

I had some interest in the card game and tried to make a deck around those cards that, if you spell DEATH or some such, you auto-win. I don't think I ever won but watching panic if I managed to get most of the letters was fun
edit: won via those cards, not at all in general, I sucked but didn't suck that badly

I still have all of my cards. Got a great fire deck. But I never could find that many people to play with.

Yeah, Kamigawa. Back when my cousins were playing cards "face-down," Yi-Gi-Oh was what came to mind. I hated the show though, it became tedious.

Actually ran across someone who tried doing something like that in the TCG.
