    A Not So Serious Question

Jesus rising from the dead made me think about my second favorite movie, Ghostbusters, and made me wonder:

If the Ghostbusters use their ghost capturing stuff on a living, not possessed, person, will they capture the person's soul and leave them a hollow husk?

Considering the damage those beams do, I'd say that they'd leave behind a burnt husk, instead.

I think we can all agree there's an inherent difference between a person's soul and their ghost "body".

Not quite. A person's "ghost" is a combination of their soul and mind.

          That's still a difference.

Jesus saves. He takes half damage.

I agree with Ryner in that someone's soul and someone's ghost are two different things. I think that within the ghostbuster universe ghosts are manifestations of strong, malevolent wills and something about electromagnetic fields and ectoplasm, which I don't think will translate that much into the nature of souls.

I think generally within the universe of ghostbusters that ghosts are created when parts of the soul hang onto life in an effort to become immortal for one reason or another. I think that from these little bits of the souls, the evil will, act through ectoplasm or whatever in order to have agency in the corporeal universe.

It's been a while since I've seen the films, however, so I could be way off base with my assumptions.

I think Ghostbusters is a comedy.

Slimer was a commentary on the empty consumerism of the 1980s. Try to keep up.

Our bodies do not produce the same electromagnetic field nor do we have the same ionization rate. The ghost trap was designed for spirits already removed from their corporeal form.
What's the point of having an emergency response system if you can't provoke the wrath of God?

I think we should call Ghosthunters and ask them what they think because they are so scientific and creditable.
