    Got that PS3...flashing red light

My PS3 Master Race might be on its way to extinction.

This is what's happening to mine.

I have it set to turn off after an hour of inactivity, because sometimes I go to sleep listening to music, and I do not want it on all night. Woke up this morning, tried to turn it on via controller, and noticed it was flashing red. Manually turned it on, and it told me that it was turned off improperly the last time. I actually had Wizardry loaded when I fell asleep last night.

XMB seems to work fine, but loaded up Wizardry, and it turned off on me after about 5 minutes. Tried Pac-Man CE DX, and it turned off after about three minutes.

Right now, it's unplugged and cooling off. My 360 RRoD'ed on me last week, and now my PS3 is not functioning properly. Might this mean I have to play my Wii for a while, god forbid?

    No and yes.

Being a Playstation Plus member, I actually backed up all my important saves (WKC, Demon's Souls, which you CANNOT back up, both Wizardry files, DA:O, which is also not able to be backed up, Atelier Rorona, and maybe a few others) in their online cloud saving thing.

And yes, it's a 60 gig with a 250 gig HDD in it.

I would guess it's because they didn't pay the extra cash to allow thier game onto that service.

I think he meant you CAN back-up Demon's Souls to the cloud, which you can't do normally.

Don't you have a second back-up PS3 that you bought just in case something like this happened?

MY PS3 broke months ago and I don't have any ****ing way of getting it repaired because Sony completely stopped supporting this model. The GPU needs to be replaced and the only way for me to get one is to buy another 60GB (cecha01) model and hope that it's in decent condition then replace it myself.

My backup was an 80 gig model that I bought "used," and took a chance on...it got the YLOD after using a third-party power cable, which in retrospect was incredibly stupid.

You could try out gophermods.com, they have an expensive reball and reflow service that will fix your system and fix it for a long time unless you're l-l-l-lucky! like myself then your system needs something replaced that isn't even available. And in that case, you won't be charged for the repair and they'll tell you to buy a new one. lol.

The day my 60gig bites it will be a sad day indeed. Since it's like the only version of the PS3 that had hardware backwards compatibility for PS2 instead of fail emulation.

I feel for ya, Perv. And that never happens.
