I got PayPal robbed.

Early this morning an email pops up on my phone saying my $100 paypal payment has been sent. I have no idea what that's about. So I go to paypal to see if there's an such payment or if it's a scam email. Turns out there are THREE transactions ($100, $30, & $36) for this morning all within minutes of each other, none of which I made. I immediately filed a report and changed my password.

They've already emailed me saying one has been settled in my favor and refunded. Hopefully the other two are taken care of quickly too.

Yikes. Makes me glad I don't have my PayPal account tied into my bank anymore, and there's only $30 left in it from my old ad revenue.

I didn't get a warning from my AV stuffs, but i wasn't implying you should support them, just gaze and be amused.

$100 charge has been refunded now. The one that got resolved earlier was the $30 one. Now just $36 to go. Sucks that this happened but I do give them credit for taking care of it rather quickly. And I've been using paypal for a long time without any problems. I think I'm just going to take Crunk's example and just link it to my credit card.

get a credit card. you are doing no one any favors if your not atleast owning one credit card. never use it, store it somewhere, doesnt mater. if you want to have good credit for buying a house later in life then you need to show your bank that you can preform well with a credit card. in a world where physical money is obsolete credit and electronic are your two avenues of payment.

ive had a credit card for so many years that i have outstanding credit. i use it rarely but enough to build up a record of trust.

Owning a credit card and not using it won't help your rating that much. Creditors want to see a history of payments. Ideally (for them), you carry a balance from month to month and always pay on time.

But, yeah, there's no reason not to have at least one open line of credit to make reservations, build your credit rating, and get the protections they offer that aren't available for debit cards.

That said... read the fine print. Keep an eye on fees and rate adjustments.

by not using it im more referring to not carrying it if you think you cant handle it and just use it for online purchasing or emergency purchases. i have several credit options open to me for emergencies including a line of credit.
