    My PSP Battery is bricked!!!

I have a PSP 1000 and the battery that came with it gets about 15 minutes on a full charge.

Obviously, I could buy a replacement battery (I saw some on Amazon for less than $10 with shipping), but I've also considered buying a 3000 model.

I was thinking about waiting until the NGP (Or whatever the PSP2 is called) until I read that it may be another download only handheld (And thus incompatible with my UMD game collection), which defeats the purpose of buying one as a replacement.

Are there any good alternatives I haven't considered, or any advice you folks can offer regarding buying a new PSP or battery?

NGP isn't download only. Games will be released on a cartridge-y memory card and PSN, supposedly always on the same release date. But you are correct that it's not compatible with UMD, that format is dead as a doornail.

Anyway, it's easy enough to buy a PSP cheap, especially with the recent price drop. There are always plenty on craigslist and eBay if you want to save even more money. And pawn shops.

Buying UMDs is a fool's errand by this point.

I would suggest that, if you have the money, you get a PSP 2000 or 3000. They're supposed to be pretty significant advances over the first-gen. And yeah, if you're like me and already have a fair amount of UMD games, waiting for the NGP won't do any good. Unless you want to sell 'em all off, you either need a new battery or a new PSP.
