my psp is bricked

today i brought it to work to play on my lunch and it fell out of my coat pocket. it hit the floor and fell apart (battery flew off, card came out a lil). i put it back together and it loads to a blue screen with a wave pattern. nothing i do or try is making it recognize the software on the machine. i tried to various recovery methods and it doesnt even acknowledge them. i opened it up and looked around but nothing seams physically broken.

do i have to buy a new one? i really dont but i bought a new game i havent even begun to play yet.

i got a pandora battery/mms which should bring the thing back to life. it'll install custom firmware but you can easily update your psp to official firmware from there.

EDIT: oh wait. you live in canada land. shipping might actually cost more than two dollars so i might need paypal reimbursement.

I actually had the same thing happen to me Tuesday night, where it fell hard and ejected both the battery and card. But it started up fine.

I think I had this not recognizing thing occur a couple months ago, though. But I don't recall doing anything special to fix it, just took the battery out and put it back in a time or two, blew on the inside of the disc thing (because that's my default for anything game-related as a fix, after hitting it), popped in on the charger....maybe I did something else, but I don't recollect what. It's fine now, though; just played some Tactics Ogre this morning.

i do the blow test too every time something doesnt work, an old habit from the snes days i guess.

@toaster: shipping is no problem, ill pay whatever that costs to ship it to me and back.

i really cant justify spending another 130 for a new one.

You should never have had to blow into the SNES. It was the NES that was infamous for that.

I blew in NES, SNES, N64 and any other system that had cartridges. Worked every time.

I blew into my SNES a lot. And look: it still works! 16 years and counting. Ironic, since it's probably the only one I'd pay to replace if necessary.

now that i think of it i blew into the nes and i still blow into my 64, and anything else that has a slot. old habits die hard. my ps1 memory cards get a complimentary blow when i think they arnt preforming the way i want them to (slow reading).

tried the pandora battery that toaster lent me and absolutely every conceivable way with it to unbrick my psp. ive come to the conclusion that its dead in the worst way.

im going to have to pony up the cash for a replacement model, maybe a refurbished one to keep the cost down. i really didnt want to buy another one as i have gotten so few games for it but i dont have much choice.

the new pe3 is coming out too and i wana play that.

Depends on what model your looking for of course!
I work Friday and Saturday there this week and Monday and Saturday the following week.
