    WWE All Stars

So I downloaded this demo last night and tried it out, and you should too. Wait wait, hear me out.

I'm a wrestling games connoisseur and I've played them all over the years. I haven't been happy w/ wrestling games for a long LONG time...my favorite were the Firepro and AKI games. AKI did WCW World Tour, WCW Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000, WWF No Mercy for the N64. They went on to do the good Def Jam games w/ their awesome animations, not the terrible next-gen followup.

Anyway, I mention all of this because while All Stars doesn't quite have that AKI polish, it's damn close...but they NAILED the animations. The gameplay i sa mix between AKI and Wrestlemania Arcade, which isn't surprising because the lead designer of Wrestlemania Arcade is behind this one.

Seriously, if you have ANY interest in wrestling or fighting games, check out the demo. I have high hopes, and it'll probably be the most fun wrestling game I've played in a long time.

oh crap there's a demo out?

I was really more excited about this when they were saying it was gonna be a PSN/XBLA title. But they seemed to greatly expand the roster and stuff to get it to retail level, I'll check it out.

And now I can live out my fantasy of John Morrison going over the entire WWE legends roster ;3

Yeah...I think they changed it so that it fits more on their Spongebob Squarepants shovelware.

Hey, good thing I don't work for them anymore, I can say that!

Is this anything like Legends of Wrestlemania? That was decent; the dumbed-down controls were good in some ways and crap in others, but with a lineup like that game had it was hard not to like it (seriously, the only two people I was missing was Mick Foley and Randy Savage. Otherwise, it was set as far as I was concerned.)

And when you say Wrestlemania Arcade, are you talking about that game from the mid-90's that wasn't a wrestling game so much as a fighting game that happened to feature wrestlers as characters? Because that sucked.

I picture it like Legends of Wrestlemania as far as button mashing goes, in an NBA Jam twist. Hopefully online would be more fun compared to previous games, including it's most recent "grappler". I bet stunners look even more ridiculous than Austin's default one in damn near every Smackdown vs Raw game (Austin's most exaggerated one in the series, too). It's the one that seems to be based on The Rock's huge "post-flip-to-handstand" sell from a match they had at Wrestlemania. If you want to skip the dramatic turnover, the move is at 0:32.

How it looks in the game. A bit more exaggerated but close.

On a related note, I miss the stunner with the ground taunt at the end. Why the hell did they remove that one from the games? Now there is this ridiculous one and the weakest looking one. And I don't care for the new logo, either.

And Dreamknight, I thought JoMo was your top superstar on SvR2011. I don't see much else that tops ending Taker's streak. Maybe taking out Andre the Giant or Hulk Hogan?

I've read a couple glowing reviews (9.0 and 9.1) and the worst so far has been from IGN at 7.0...but the review was pretty insulting actually. It mentioned the controls were too complex? We should be glad there's depth to the gameplay. Oh well, whatever...I'm really looking forward to getting into this tonight.

Can you make a custom wrestler in the demo or not? That was always my favorite part in these WWE games. Especially recreating my childhood favorite.

I don't see it happening with All Stars. But I could be wrong. Otherwise, it could be implemented in a sequel. Depending on this game's success, that is.

Honestly seems too cartoony to me. Not that I will never try it. One day when it is down in price I will give it a shot. If it had a create a character feature I probably would have bought the thing. Who doesn't want to make their own badass?

Austin in 2011? To be honest, man I got that "Unlock everything" dlc with the Axxess passes so I didn't have to play the Road to Wrestlemanias to unlock anyone or anything. Everything including the stat customizer thing, I got everything right out of the shoots because I chose to pay more for it...

                            ...like a complete dumbass.

                            Edit:

                            *** SPOILERS ***
Apparently, there is a challenge match in Christian's Road to WrestleMania against Steve Austin after winning the other challenge matches in his story. But that's all I could find, though, for the moment. It's not too specific, Christian's RTWM branches into two parts, so I'm scratching my head on that one.

You can create a wrestler in this game, not in the demo.
