Remember when they scientifically tried to create the worst song ever?

This was just the first part (you can look up the rest if you're that enthralled by the first part):

They weren't even close. Someone did succeed, though:

Yeah, I used to think that "Last Kiss" by Pearl Jam was the worst song ever for a FACT. Facts can change, apparently.

I was wondering who the hell she was. Got to be honest, I lol'd just now at hearing the song. Apparently she (or the songwriter, whoever) went to the Randy Newman school of songwriting.

Oh, WOW! Huge burn to Randy Newman out of left-field.

That might cost the Newmans some momentum and they will have to keep up the pace with the Riotswords if they don't want to give up too many runs here tonight, folks!

Wow, that's so bad, it transcends bad, flies right past being so bad it's good, and it goes back to being bad.

When I first saw that, I really thought it was a parody of Kesha/modern pop in general.

They should have just thrown a dress on the vocoder.

Wait...who was it that said they liked this in another topic? Or was it sarcasm?

I don't know, Meatloaf impersonators do a fairly good job with this song.

The Meatloaf version is great. This is one of those fads that can become hilarious if done right.

So... while I acknowledge that the song is awful, I find it funny for a different reason than most. I find it funny because of how it brings out this horrible mob mentality in people. Rebecca Black is a good example of how something seemingly innocuous can bring out the worst in people. Like when riots spring up in L.A. and cars get flipped over whenever the Lakers play in the finals. A little 13 year old girl convinced her parents to pay a small production company $2000 to make a music video with her friends in it because she wanted to live out her kid fantasy of becoming famous, and people responded by ruthlessly mocking her; sending her messages wishing she were dead. There's no need to stone her or break her legs. Yeah, the video is funny, but the response is so ridiculously overblown, especially considering that it is a Youtube video, which people are willfully choosing to watch. It's not like that annoying, inescapable song that gets played endlessly on the radio or stuck in advertisements.

Speaking of how bad 'Friday' is, maybe it's because I've been desensitized by modern pop music, but I find the song to be pretty indistinguishable from any of the tripe that Disney radio ****s out. The comparison to Justin Bieber is apt, because his music is just as unremarkable as any other bad pop music. Why would you expect anything better? I really don't know how people can claim that this is the one song that is 'the worst ever'. Honestly, I would say that the Kim Kardashian song or anything by the Black Eyed Peas is probably worse because they're all way older and should be much wiser than Rebecca Black. There is music that I like in my own collection that is worse than 'Friday'.

Wait, how is Justin Bieber bad pop music? How do you determine good pop music?!?!
