In light of the responses I've gotten to this thread, I have decided to include a small question and answer portion to this post.

In mid 2006, his first offering "Lupe Fiasco Presents Food and Liquor" leaked, and consequently, new songs were recorded when the album had its proper release in late 2006. Reviews for the album were, suffice to say, positively critical, reviewers noting his charismatic wordplay and a knack for storytelling.
In late 2007, his sophomore LP, "The Cool," was released to very positive reviews, as well (**** in Rolling Stone, for instance). He was supposed to release "Lup E.N.D.," a series of three different albums, as he had announced his retirement from rap. Unfortunately, his contact with the record company prevented him from this doing this; his LupE.n.d. album was shelved indefinitely, and in place of it, a new album, reportedly titled "The Great American Rap Album," was set to be released in 2009.
This did not occur, and another title, "We are Lasers" (now, titled "Lasers") was put into production. Lupe said in early to mid 2010 that the album was finished, but that the record company had made no plans to release it. After a petition made by fans for the album's release, Lupe and his record company finally came to a compromise, and Lasers was properly released in early March of this year, topping the Billboard Album charts (his first).

I hardly ever bring about the topic of rap because it's these typical responses I usually get (since text really has no emotion, I assume the tone of said responses are nonchalance and sarcasm; if curiosity is your original intention, please let me know, so that there are no misunderstandings). No one genre is perfect, but this is something I love and will continue to do/discuss, until there is no breath left in my body.

Those two, for sure. Listening to them will literally make you dumber. Lupe does not fit this category. I'd put him in a league with Talib Kweli, Mos Def, and Black Thought from the Roots.
Hope this Q and A explains everything.
