Yeah, that video was super ADD and mostly trite, but there are some interesting ideas.

Like the Mom game. I would play the hell out of that.

This guys makes some very good points and I too would be all for the mom game. I can't think of a more sympathetic character than a mom going through terrible ordeals to protect her children.

How about a game where you have a child out of nowhere you have to take care of at your doorstep? This would make it easier for the player to relate because the player has no prior relationship with the child that they have to pretend exists. Instead, the kid is new to the player as it is the main character that you play. Just a thought.

Dragon Age 2 just got a fairly strong female character. Without it just being a man with breasts. Although it's offset with the Miss Fanservice, which is really particular because the two clash in dialogue as well.

Only she's not a mother, so I guess that's null.

I feel like I've been stating the obvious lately... Name of topic, Mora. It isn't the "True Men Characters" thread, which would sadly devolve into something involving hulking men with guns.

It's just that you said you couldn't think of a more sympathetic character than a mother trying to protect her children. Did you just mean "out of all the female characters I can think of" or "out of any character i can think of"? I guess that's where I was making assumptions.

I was leaning towards the "out of all the female characters I can think of." Though, part of me would find the mother character more sympathetic just because of my upbringing. I was raised by my mom and had very few male role models. There are few believable female main characters in the video game industry and thus why I would prefer the mom character over the father one. Men have had plenty of chances. When I think of a mom game I kind of picture a female Ico like game. Exploring these beautiful and dangerous ruins while fending off hordes of creatures that are trying to take away your children.
