I'd have to say Final Fantasy VI. it was the first soundtrack I ever bought (Kefka's Domain, totally boss). it has so many songs that I feel compelled to listen to, even while driving around, I don't even give a ****. so beautiful and stirring.
and of course, how can you forget one of the greatest moments in 16-bit history.
that opera scene is the first moment in a video game I can recall being completely floored by what I was experiencing. it just hit me so damn hard for some reason. the way the "oohs" in the song matched up with the lyrics on screen, I'd never seen anything like that in a game. despite being part of a story within a story, about characters I knew next to nothing about and didn't have any sort of emotional attachment to, I was just so moved by it. it's absolutely beautiful.
it's just such a sentimental soundtrack for me. it was the first time I'd ever played a game and felt that I was embarking on an adventure. that opening title crawl was the coolest thing I'd ever seen when I was a kid, and it still gives me chills to this day.
what about you? explain your choices and give examples.
