Buying things at prices that are reasonably cheaper than what they should be is pretty sweet. I got the Indiana Jones boxset for FOUR bucks at a yard sale(excluding the newest movie, dunno if I mentioned that before). So, I think that deal falls under the damn good category or maybe even the ****ing awesome category. Have you ever bought something at a reasonable or great price resulting in you saying it was a damn good deal?

Re: Damn good deals
I know I mentioned it before, but Modern Warfare 2 for $7 last year was pretty good. Tonight I saw it on sale at Target for $45, and that's 8 months after I got it.
Blockbuster also used to have a deal where you could trade in two games and then get any used game for only $5, regardless of its original price. And you still got paid the normal trade-in value of the games. That was a pretty awesome deal right there (and is how I got Red Dead Revolver back in the day, where its initial price had been like $35-$40).
I kinda always bargain shop (especially for books), so it takes a lot for one of them to impress me. Used games make up well over half of my collection, and for this gen probably more like 80%. With only three actually purchased at the full $60 price tag (namely, the two Fallout games and Dragon Age) out of a good 50 or more games in all."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."

Re: Damn good deals
I bought a used book for about $3 on eBay. The owner was selling it cheap because somebody had defaced the inside.
When I got it, and opened it up to see the damage, it turned out that what the seller had called "defacement" was actually the autograph of the author himself - who also happens to be an astronaut.
Best $3 I ever spent.

Re: Damn good deals
"Letters from MIR". EDIT: I checked my receipts - I didn't pay $3 for the book like I thought. I payed $0.01.Originally posted by Valkysas View PostWhat book?
Though, there are a lot of cheap signed copies available.
It wasn't the only autographed book I got cheap because the sellers either didn't look inside or were too stupid to realize the inscription was by the author. It's one of the reasons I like buying used books - every now and again there's a little surprise inside waiting for me.
Granted, sometimes it's mold spores instead of an autograph...Last edited by Thutmose; 02-12-2011, 01:07 AM.

Re: Damn good deals
Some of these things don't really sound like deals. Maybe I'm just no grasping the rarity of the products or something. But a DVD for $10 seems pretty pedestrian. In fact, I don't think I've paid that much for a movie in some time."Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity."

Re: Damn good deals
I'm living in a two-story condo with new appliances including a garbage disposal, dishwasher and in-house laundry, two living rooms, three luxurious bedrooms with walk-in closets, two bathrooms - one with two sinks and a shower big enough to fit four-plus people simultaneously - and a parking space. It's a few miles from downtown Boston, and it's $425 a month.

Re: Damn good deals
I had recently purchased a set of digital calipers for $2. I have verified their accuracy even at 1/1000th of an inch setting.
THAT is a deal. You'd be hard pressed to find a deal that good in south Texas, and rent is generally far cheaper here than in Boston!Originally posted by Kefka Jr. View PostI'm living in a two-story condo with new appliances including a garbage disposal, dishwasher and in-house laundry, two living rooms, three luxurious bedrooms with walk-in closets, two bathrooms - one with two sinks and a shower big enough to fit four-plus people simultaneously - and a parking space. Even down here, a slumlord apartment near downtown typically goes for $400-500/month without the bills being paid with it(and $700+/month in St. Louis, which also has cheap rent compared to most of the U.S.).The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson
