ok lets admit it, im never going to be done with the story of the seven spirits. so much of it was done when i was so new to the ideas of events and speacial effects, so new in fact, that i had to jettison the first 3/4 of the game to fix the mess. i was about 9/10 of the way done too. i felt disheartend and was running out of steam. so i went on to new and better things. its called valkry blade and was inspired in most part by dragon quest IX. it will feature boss battles, fallen angles, small areas and large areas, and armagedon. a demo will be done in about a month and (hopefully) posted here on the pav

Re: my new game
Congratulations. Looking forward to the demo. Watch your spelling and grammar. Make sure your game is something that other people will earnestly want to play, since even good games can go under the radar.Originally posted by the spirit of fate View PostOK, let's admit it, I'm never going to be done with the Story of the Seven Spirits. so much of it was done when i was so new to the ideas of events and special effects - so new, in fact, that i had to jettison the first 3/4 of the game to fix the mess. i was about 9/10 of the way done too. i felt disheartened and was running out of steam. so i went on to new and better things. its called Valkyrie Blade and was inspired in most part by dragon quest IX. it will feature boss battles, fallen angels, small areas and large areas, and armageddon. a demo will be done in about a month and (hopefully) posted here on the pavLast edited by Wavelength; 02-10-2011, 02:59 PM.

Re: my new game
Really??? WOW! That's... freaking amazing!it will feature boss battles
But in all seriousness, almost every game on the market has boss battles. If you're going to tout them off as a special feature, there better be something significant about them."What if like...there was an exact copy of you somewhere, except they're the opposite gender, like you guys could literally have a freaky friday moment and nothing would change. Imagine the best friendship that could be found there."

Re: my new game
Assuming this is RPG Maker 3, and assuming it's not something that could be done through the menus already in place in your game (maybe via creative use of items), you've gotta make the menus using good old Choice Branches.
Your best bet might be to download someone else's game and see how they made "menus" in their game. There are a ton of good examples. Check out any game from myself, Obright, Pagerron, or Perversion, for example.
And again, watch your spelling (mountainous, I've) - I'm not busting your chops for making a mistake here, per se, but warning you that it will get very distracting if your spelling is this bad in your actual game.Last edited by Wavelength; 02-15-2011, 11:53 PM.

Re: my new game
Karr: Given how great your ideas for Crystal Shores are, and given how much time and effort you're investing into every aspect of it, I'm making the assumption that you're running some kind of check on the spelling before you type everything, or at least plan to have someone copyedit it. (If not then I apologize for making assumptions - but it really would be a crying shame.)
My point in highlighting the mistakes is that spirit of fate needs to be careful when he actually creates his game, because if he calls it "valkry blade" when he meant Valkyrie Blade and the characters talk about their epic fight against "angles", it's going to be a laughingstock no matter how good the actual gameplay is.
That is, unless they are really rebelling against math.Last edited by Wavelength; 02-16-2011, 01:18 AM.

Re: my new game
no one likes to be corrected on their internet spelling. if he gave a flying fig about spelling then there is tons of programs out there to fix spelling as you go, and even some browsers have that capability. there is no need to correct anyones post for spelling, this isnt an english course.

Re: my new game
I really disagree with you Karr, but unless you want to discuss it further, I'll leave it at that and avoid correcting him again in this topic.

Re: my new game
no continue i find it quite interesting.
to be truthfull guys i suck at grammer and math but in every other subject im post highschool. i have my lil bro go over it (and is giving me some novel theoreticle ideas) and he checks the grammer.
also, the reason i dont have spell check is that i am on the dsi in the middle of the night. kinda makes sence if you think about it. anyway, i now have a bot in runescape so ill be devoting 2 hours a day to the progect.Didn't you know? The living are just the dead that haven't stopped breathing.

Re: my new game
Every other subject DEPENDS on English and math. Chem and physics depend on math. Social studies, poli sci, government...really, every other class aside from a foreign language necessitate a knowledge of one of these two.
And yeah, have your brother look at your game. Hell, have your brother look at every post you make. Because that last one was pretty atrocious. Look at it like this, spirit...you are making a game in the RPG genre, which typically is one that involves a lot of reading. A lot of people are going to see that even for a post asking questions or describing the game, you seem to have a very tenuous grasp on spelling and grammar. That will turn a LOT of people off from even wanting to download your game. If you format your posts with proper spelling and grammar, and take the time to fix the mistakes BEFORE you post, that will usually tell people that you are serious about what you are doing. Otherwise, it just seems kinda half-baked and amateurish.Last edited by Perversion; 02-21-2011, 01:16 PM.

Re: my new game
So yeah, you've gotta be careful when saving or working with memory cards, and you should always have a backup. Lessons learned the hard way.
Think of it as motivation to build your game way better than it was the first time. Make it something people will want to play.
