I'm trying to wrap my head around this because all service members are eligible for the SGLI which is service specific life insurance. I'm not married but I'm worried myself what will happen if I pass because I transferred mine to the VGLI which is the same thing but for discharged veterans. I know there was some controversy over this a few years ago because the government uses a private insurance company and they weren't handling the money properly, but if my folks get stiffed out of the 400 grand I'm worth I'm ****ing haunting somebody.
