    Is the old Castlevania dead?

So, they rebooted the franchise. Cool, but there's 2 games I'd like to see made:

A Castlevania game where you're Julius Belmont and one where there's the REAL ending to Castlevania other than the one given in Dawn of Sorrow. Yeah, Dracula will keep coming back, but we never found out what happened to Dario after he lost his power.

Those would be 2 awesome games, as long as they don't go 3D and mess it up like they've done with their previous attempts. I mean, I'm all for 3D, it's just I think, at this point, especially after recently playing Curse of Darkness, if they go 3D, they should make the running speed for the character much faster. The level design was boring mainly because running around took FOREVER!

I'm just hoping that Hard Corps Uprising sells well enough to convince Konami to bring back 2D classics in HD. Even if it weren't the metroidvania style, the game would still look great if they had Arc System Works develop it.

It's not dead. After they're done with this "new" Castlevania (I don't think one okay-ish game constitutes as a full-scale reboot of the franchise across the board), they'll go back to the classic Castlevania well because it'll be novel again. Plus there's always going to be a built-in audience for it.

I think I played a bit of a Castlevania game once.

        And it was not SotN.

Are you sure it was Castlevania and not Ar Tonelico?

I don't know if you'll be able to throw Daisuke Ishiwatari in the mix whenever he should probably finish Guilty Gear, but, it would be awesome if they went into that high quality of sprites!

I'm fairly confident, yes. I think it was one of the NES ones.

AFAIK, Guilty Gear is done. BlazBlue is the series' spiritual successor, and if you wanna see really amazing spritework, check out either of the BlazBlue games.

See, there you go: Castlevania was never on the NES.
