How shall I spend free money?

Specifically, I won a contest at my primary forum, which apparently is going to entitle me to get something of a cost around $20 on Amazon sent my way. I never shop on Amazon, pretty much all of my online retail shenanigans (few as they are) revolve around eBay, or more recently Woot. Anyone have any suggestions?

My initial thoughts are the first season of Community, since I'm mildly curious about it. Or possibly Archer, since I know I'll get the DVD anyhow. But a book or two would also be welcome. Probably not a game, I already have a backlog, although if it's a good enough price for something like Red Dead Redemption I might bite.

Get this, this, this, and this.

Actually, with tax, those combined would probably come out to $25, so you'd probably have to kick in a bit yourself.

I don't like online shopping, if I can help it. Even with Woot, I've been reading the site since late '09 and only bought from it three times. And my lifetime total in eBay expenditure is probably around $300-$400, $100 of which was a single item (the Sopranos complete series on DVD).

I would go with the Archer DVD. That stuff is hilarious.

Online shopping is so much better than real shopping. Lower prices, with my student status I get free two day shipping from Amazon and a much, much wider selection of items.

I dunno about the other $9.81, but $10.19 of that should definitely be spent on this.

                actually, get this, too.

                  THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO

It will only cost you HALF of what you got, but it is worth more than what you received! How can you beat that?!

I'd recommend this myself, but it's a bit out of your price range.

                    I love Amazon.

If you don't know what books to get, just get an anthology or two because it'll let you branch out from there.

Raymond Chandler is really good, he wrote for those dime detective magazines but he's so great that he operated within that genre to create literature. He's the sort of guy you look up to.

Salinger's Nine Stories is pretty brilliant too. If you go used you can get Nine Stories, Franny and Zooey, and Raise High the Roof Beam which are all pretty great-- even if you don't like Catcher because Salinger is just so great with the short story medium.

Both of those guys are pretty easy to read and are pretty well-known which helps field any literary kind of question or even entire literary conversations. On top of that they are great stories so it's a win-win.

I think they released a graphic novel version of Howl in tandem with Howl (about Allen Ginsberg starring James Franco) that I've been drooling over but I don't really know if you're into Ginsberg or poetry or anything like that.

There's like a million and a half good books out there and I'm sure you can find at least twelve of them on amazon that you don't have already. I'd suggest not getting anything that you can get at your library, or something so old that you can pick up free because they are public domain, or something old at all because old books are really stuffy and nobody wants to have conversations about them anyway because they had to read them in high school. I'd stick with something post WW2-- this gives you a lot of material to work with and most of it is still culturally relevant anyway.

You should, at least, invest in 100 cups of coffee. Oh, it isn't 300 bucks? Nevermind...
