Ryner's Bus Adventure: Results and share your public transportation stories

Background: I commute to and from campus via public transportation. It sucks. There are two routes I can take: the long route which involves a bus and a train, or the shorter route which is one bus that goes through a pretty bad, low-class neighborhood. Usually I take the later for simplicity's sake and, honestly, there aren't really people looking to cause random trouble on a bus at 7am or 4pm on a weekday. Still, riding public transportation through a crummy neighborhood usually comes with the bonus feature of occasional weirdness.

The game: On one particularly odd day last week, I was on my way home when I experienced no less than three odd situations through the course of a single bus ride. I will explain four: three real, one fake. Your job is to decide which scenario is made up, and which ones are real. The answer will be revealed later tonight or early tomorrow, correct guesses win rep!

So, on this particularly odd day last week, did I NOT witness:

    1) A high school girl in tears while talking on a cell phone about her brother, who disappeared a week ago after getting into a gang fight and hadn't been seen since.

    2) A woman use her large fingernails to pick food out of her boyfriend's teeth, mere moments after they had been aggressively making out.

    3) A woman wearing an overly large leather jacket get onto the bus with three children, none of which were wearing coats of their own. It was about 35 degrees on this day.

    4) A man get on the bus carrying a roll of tinfoil, who then proceeded to create what can only be described as an origami crack pipe out of said tinfoil.

So, of these four events, which one did I make up? Let the game begin!

Number one sounds too commonplace (relative to the other choices), so I'm gonna call that one real.

Number two sounds just way too wacky to be made up, so I'm calling that one real too.

Number three sounds plausible, and not hugely outrageous (again, relative to the circumstances), so I'm gonna pick that as the made-up one.

Number four again sounds a bit too commonplace given the area and circumstances, so I'm also gonna call that one real.

Although, there is a grammatical error in number two, so that may be a tell to the unreality of it. Nevermind...all but number one have the same error. Unless you didn't use the proper "gets" or "got" (in number four as an example....you said "A man get...") to enhance the ghetto flavor of the narrative.

Number three sounds the most plausible one of the bunch, so that one gets my vote. The others sund too weird to have been made up.

All I know is that I WANT #2 to be fake.

...Wait, I want #3 to be fake also.

...but I think #1 is the fake one.

If number one is fake, that's really boring compared to the others, and I'd be disappointed in your "making up weird fake public transportation stories" abilities. I'd HOPE number three is the fake one, because that's just sad and depressing otherwise.

If number two turns out to be fake, then you did a good job, as that one sounds almost too outrageous to be made up.

I've seen all sorts of stuff while taking public transportation. But I'll go ahead and guess that #4 is fake.

              I say number 4.

              ...Or number 2...

              Yeah, no, Number 4.

                I will guess number 3.

I've personally witnessed the type of event described in number 4.

I'm going to guess that #2 is fake, since if they had just been aggressively making out moments beforehand, you were probably not very likely to be staring at them. The others you could have more passively witnessed.

                  Either way, awesome bus ride.

It sure as heck better be the first one.

Now this is quite an interesting thread so far. And a challenging query to boot. I'm going to go with #1. 3 seems like the one most likely to be real, the other three aren't quite a toss up, but it's close. In fact, I had 2 typed in there at one point.

I agree with #3, same reasons as Perv.
