Since there's no topic about it in the video games forum.

Anyhoo, from what I gather...

The game will get released in April.

It will have DLC characters, stages, fatalities, costumes, ect. In an effort to avoid having to release a new copy like other fighting games do to make people buy it again, Boon mentioned possibly including a free set of DLC for people to download so they can still play against other players who do buy the DLC.

Characters get their own intros and voices. No more grunts shared by all. And they each get their own theme music.

For a preorder bonus, I know Gamestop will have a code for the classic version of Scorpion (his MK1 outfit).

Kollektor's Edition will have Scorpion and Subzero book ends, an art book, a retro ninja costume (not sure for who), and some MK inspired gear for your 360/PSHome avatars.

Confirmed characters so far, Cyrax, Ermac, Jade, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Nightwolf, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Shao Kahn, Sindel, Sonya, and Sub Zero.

Kratos will be playable on the PS3 version.

As far as the story goes, it's pretty much a reboot of the first three games.











Mileena's got some awesome combos here.
And since she apparently shows her face a lot this time...she doesn't seem as ugly anymore.
I still wouldn't kiss her, though.

Personally I can't wait.

It's about time MK joined the modern age and looked fluid and organic.

Why haven't they been making this MK game the past ten years?

EDIT-also pretty sure from what I've seen Mileena's gonna be my main, unless Jade's as good as she was in older games.

Forgot to mention, there's no longer the High/Low attacks. Each character has their own style this time, so they should actually play differently from each other.

This new game actually has me excited again.

Whatever. I just want that MK movie hoax to be real. It looked like it would have had such promise, such potential to be bad in the best possible way. The games always seemed like a case of style over substance.

Eh. Digital series is better than nothing, but it's not much fun to deride those for their poor quality compared to a theatrical release.

From what I understand under WB games is the first time they have been given a reasonable development cycle to make a truly quality driven game.

It's actually like a re-imagined 2 + 3, meshed together (minus the goofy fatalities like blowing up the world, etc). Kratos being in the PS3 version seems to have some mixed reactions with the die-hard MK fans. Seems like the 360 users are going to have the short-end of the stick (or the better end if you don't like the idea of doing the "Soul Calibur guest thing"). He's probably going to be a VS-only character, anyway.
