Recently, I got a Youtube account. The other day, after putting up a short "demo" of a video, someone on Youtube sent me this message:

hey how are you,

really nice video you uploaded today on your channel, i enjoyed it.

just wanted to let you know, if you are looking for more subscribers you should check out this site.

a couple of guys and girls i know used it and even one of them got 1,000 subscribers from it
within 2 days and you can do it each week to get more

I'm trying to figure out if this is a genuine message, or a diabolical plot to plant a nasty virus on my Computer. Has anyone received a similar message? Am I being paranoid? I need your help, people!

How many people was it sent to? You can usually tell it's spam if it was sent to more than yourself. The other people are listed under the message, and the spammers will leave a whole lot of empty space at the bottom in hopes you don't see that list.

But pretty much yeah, that's a very common form of spam on YouTube. In fact, I made a video on it:
