The following dialogue was written by the (fictional) renowned scientist, Dr. Quartz Daedelus Valenhamm, circa 1085 C. D. (Chronological Date)
"Now, any man of intelligence, from to savant to imbecile, can tell you that the world that humans live in was created by a circle of 13 Gods and Goddesses of Light. This circle, known nowadays as the Deital Sanhedrin, controls almost all the humans, animals, and plants that live and grow on the planet. What most could not or would not tell you that rules and guidlines set forth by these gods are surprisingly brutal. I have gone over many religious texts, and I have found that many things that humans do are considered to be "unholy" acts against the church, heretofore known as "sins". There is an entire 3 chapters in the texts devoted to which sins are more severe than others, and how to punish humans accordingly. I'll spare you the details, but the greatest sin of all is to, and I quote, "succumb to the influence of Darkness". It is said that the "Influence" in question manifests as one of the following sins, depending on the person: Hubris, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth, Lust, and Greed. If you are under this "Darkness", than your punishment is to be tortured to death. Then, after you die, the Gods themselves torture you for eternity.
"This book is, of course, composed of only half-truths and falshoods. The Deital Sanhedrin is a group of Vengeful beasts and Cold-souled liars. You probably cannot fathom what would bring a scientist to say such "blasphemous" things. Well, let me explain...
"Let us begin with the creation of the world. True, the Sanhedrin created this world, but it was created when a previous one was destroyed by the same Gods. The Previous world was one made of Light and Darkness, where all energy was made of the primevil Element: Chaos. The 13 found a way to split Chaos into seperate and equal amounts of Light and Dark energy; natural opposites. The 13 found the Bright and Radiant Light to their liking, and cast the Darkness away, finding it's uneventful and bothersome. Afterwards, the 13 went around dividing as much of the Chaos around the universe as they could, creating a immeasurable amount of Light.
"When the bright light brought pain to the lowly spirits who looked upon it, the other 12 gods, who did not like the light, pleaded with their bretheren to cease their actions. the 13 found this pleading a nuisance, so they forced the 12 into the Darkness by surrounding them in the blinding light, and trapping them within a pocket of darkness by hardening the light into a new world.
"From their, the 13 used their new power to create this world's landforms, creatures, plantlife, and so one. To keep the newly created humans from growing enlightened enough to master Energy (Given the name "Magic" around that time), the 13 gave life to the 6 "sins" inside the soul of each human.
"What makes this whole thing hypocritical in nature is the fact that the very Light the 13 gods' created made them fall victim to these very same "sins", and they were even more "sin"ful, to boot. The Sanhedrin knew this, but decided to brand Darkness as the "true" source of sin.
"Now, what became of the 12 other gods? Well, once they were sealed away in their pocket of Darkness, they lamented the loss of their old ways. The 12 knew not what the Sanhedrin would do with their new power. Seeing no way to escape, the 12 induced hibernation upon themselves.
"Hundreds of years later, the 12 left their hibernation to find that the seal on their pocket of space had weakened to the point that they could escape. So, the 12 decided to explore this new world, to see what had become of it. What they found disgusted them. The humans and other dominant species were bloodthirsty monsters, who liers, cheaters, thieves, rapists, persecuters, terrorizers, and all sorts of aweful things. When the 12 discovered that this was the Sanhedrin's doing, they decided that they would idly slumber while the world's population was condemning itself no longer. the 12 returned to the pocket of Darkness and allowed the Darkness to overcome them. Now a circle of Gods and Goddesses of Darkness, they called themselves the Pantheon.
"The Pantheon immediately began formulating a plan. They saw that whenever a living creature died, be it of normal causes of murder, their mind would fly around the world, sent by Light to the next available newborn body, to live life again (this would be known as "reincarnation" in later years) The Pantheon needed a way to redirect the spirits (spirits are what is made when a Mind and a Soul combine without a body) to the pocket of Darkness, which was renamed the Underworld. the Pantheon believed that if they tried to speak directly to humans, the humans would be terrified by their prescence. No, they needed humans to communicate with other humans.
"So, one of the Pantheon found a young human boy who had become disillusioned by the Religion of Light, and spoke to him of the power of Darkness as "the true path" This young boy was fearful at first, but found that Darkness was nothing to be feared. When the boy came of age, he accepted the offer to become infused with Darkness's power. The young man became known as "Niolven", the first Demigod created.
"Over time, Niolven spread the message of Darkness to as many people he could. When he found that the task was too daunting, The Pantheon recruited 3 other humans who longed for better lives. They became known as Seth, Juliette, and Myself, Quartz. We each found methods to recruit humans to accept Darkness. Whenever a human "accepts Darkness", a tiny amount of Dark energy is implanted into their souls, which never leaves them afterwards. This enegy serves 2 purposes: One, it makes it harder for the human to be tempted by sin, and Two, once the human dies, their spirit is taken to the Underworld. Seth recruits still living humans to fight in an army to defend innocent humans who're unjustly punished by the Legions of Light, Juliette looks after the spirits who arrive in the Underworld, and I do my best to enlighten the minds of humans with the Science.
"As of this writing, our circle of Demigods has grown to 12 in number, and the number of human spirits who have accepted Darkness has grown rapidly in recent years. We have now gotten almost two thirds of all the living spirits in our world to come to the Underworld. Once our goal is reached, the final phase of our plan will be implemented.
"Once all the humans are within the safety of the Underworld, us of the Zodiac (A name coined for our circle of Demigods by one of our newer members) and the 12 Gods of the Pantheon will go out and destroy the world. We will simultaneously strip the Sanhedrin of their Light energy, and combine with Dark energy, recreating the Primevil Chaos. After the Sanhedrin is desposed of, we will use the Chaos energy to create a new world, one without hardships or temptations. A pure, safe world for human spirits to enjoy living in.
"But alas, we are still quite far from our goal. But someday soon, the day of salvation will come."
