    Homeless guy w/ radio voice

Sooooo, saw this on Reddit, and I have to say it's pretty captivating. This homeless guy w/ a great radio voice (video is in there as well) has become the talk of the site, and tons of people are trying to hunt this guy down, has multiple offers, and one even offering $15k right off the bat! I'll be interested to see how this progresses.

Come with me Ted Williams. I'm from the Internet.

    And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

Unfortunately he's probably either got serious mental health or substance abuse issues that would make any sort of regular employment challenging, to say the least.

He said he's been clean for 2 years and is trying to get his life back on track.

Exactly what a crazy drug addict would say.

He kind of reminds me of a homeless Obama.

Being homeless, and therefore automatically having either mental health or substance abuse issues is a stereotype that needs to go away. There are some people who are just out of work due to the economy, and cannot afford housing, and have nowhere else to go.

Yes, I have a mental illness, and yes, I've had issues with substances in the past, and I WAS homeless for almost half a year, and WAS living at a homeless shelter (and was sober at the time), but I'll have been sober for 9 years this coming August, and will have been gainfully employed for 7 years (with the same company) this coming June.

So I kinda resent when people make those assumptions. Yeah, statistics, yadda yadda, but those statistics do not take individual people and circumstances into account. It's like, "Oh, the majority of homeless people have mental illness and/or substance abuse problems, so therefore, statistics dictate that this guy (or any random homeless person, for that matter) must as well." Wesley Willis was schizophrenic and was living homeless on the streets of Chicago, and he scored a major-label record deal. Yeah, for the majority, what you said is true, but I really dislike blanket statements like that, Mora.

Listening to the guy talk he just seems like a man who's down on his luck, not some crazy loser drug addict crack hobo. He said he went to school for radio and everything.

Perversion, I can understand where you're coming from and why it's a sensitive subject, but you only reaffirmed John's blanket statements.

Plus I work at a homeless shelter and covered my ass by saying "probably."

                              So.
