Actually, his name is James Rolfe, but he does a series on cinemassacre, called the Angry Video Game Nerd, or simplyAVGN. He reviews old-school games that blew chunks. I like his stuff.

He's pretty funny, though some a recent video or two have an unfortunate going-through-the-motions vibe. And when he has friends or guest stars? Ugh.

His latest video has music from Bear McCreary.

I thought it was a joke, but it sounded authentic, so when I found it was a real collaboration, I nearly ate my own head.

I used to be really jealous of him and thought that I could do it better, but man, he's really gone the whole nine yards in terms of... production value? Ideas? one of those.

My favorite Nerd moment is when he finds out you have to press Up + Select to use the grappling hook in Batman Forever.

It used to make me displeased that he was more popular than Yahtzee and Zero Punctuation...but well, I think that's turned around.

I actually do enjoy some of his stuff.

Hes alright. Sometimes his videos get too stupid with the guest stars/other characters, but most times hes alright.

I saw that one he did where he went to go see that dinosaur in a park from his childhood and he was almost crying, and I thought it was one of the lamest things Ive ever seen.

Yup, I'm a fan. I'm not a fan of the episodes where he actually takes a crap on some games, and in fact there's a few episodes I haven't re-watched for that very reason (Wizard of Oz and both Bugs Bunny episodes comes to mind). But I do like how every so often he mixes it up with a guest star/villain with some wicked stuff going on. I wouldn't mind trying that, myself. (And if you've been paying any bit of attention to my LPs, you just know I will. ) Although at the same time, the episodes containing simple reviews are just as enjoyable.

My personal favorites are the three Ghost Busters episodes.

Some of his videos are good but I really appreciate that he A) plays through everything from start to completion (if possible) and B) does it all on original hardware. Most people will just fire up a rom and savestate to victory. He actually suffered through Castlevania II and Ninja Gaiden.

All the video's I've seen, he just kind of rubs me the wrong way. The "anger" feels too forced and unbelievable.

Blech. It's the other way around for me. Yahtzee seems like forced one, the way he trolls and flame baits every ****ing thing. He doesn't seem to give a **** about video games at all except to give the finger to everything he comes across.

AVGN has an entire room dedicated to the stuff and reviews games that are actually bad with plenty of evidence to back it all up. He's the one who seems genuine 9 times out of 10 with his own camerawork, makeup and everything. He's the filmmaker. Yahtzee's great with clipart and has a big trollish following, I'll give him that. Maybe he's the Tim Buckley of video game review videos? With the Nerd, I just don't see a forced quality at all. That guy's got passion up the ass.
