I was chilling just watching a movie on my PS3 when suddenly the system did what appeared to be turning itself off. Where the reset button thing is there was the usual red light, but it was flashing. I waited a few minutes thinking it was just reseting for whatever reason. It didn't do anything. I pushed the reset button twice before it responded. It seemed like that it was going to start up then the usually green light turn a yellowish green and quickly back to the red flashing light. Everything I try ends up having that same result. ****! Does anybody have a clue what the deal is? Because I sure as hell can't afford to buy another one.

I was watching a regular dvd. The issue is the system will not start up... at all. It will repeat the whole pretending it is going to work then doing back to the red flashing light. I'm just glad I didn't put Persona 2 in there like I was going to. Because it also refuses to return my movie.

I will have to get a new screw driver first (my current one would strip the tar out of the thing), but I will try what they say. Thank you, Karr. I just hope it works.

I don't think that shows Jesus hates you. If anything, the happenings of this generation shows that Jesus hates Sony, and you're just collateral damage.

Well, mine did that over the summer because it overheated. Shut itself off, and when I tried to turn it back on all I got was a yellow light. Mine was under warranty, so they repaired it. Spent 20 bucks on an extended warranty back when I first purchased it and don't think I have ever spent 20 dollars any more wisely.

This is exactly what happened to my 60gig PS3 about a year ago. My warranty had expired and I had to send it in to Sony for about $100. They never told me exactly what it was but I think it was the power source frying itself. Apparently it's a known issue with the older PS3s (20GB and 60GB) although not as commonplace as the old 360s overheating. The 40GB and 80GB PS3s use a different powersource. Dunno about anything later.

Hopefully you've been backing up your saves, because everything gets wiped when you send it in.

My PS3 is a refurbished 40GB so I don't think it's going to break anytime soon.
