The Out Sound from Way In

So I've been in a very productive mode as of late, and decided to dump the music I made in my youthful(ish) days from minidisc to my laptop's HDD. As I have at least 17 minidiscs full (60-80 minutes each) of material, it's gonna take some time for the (real-time) dump, and even longer to sift through.

I did the first one the other night, and ended up, over the span of 2 nights, doing a complete remaster/remix of the track. As all of them were recorded live to minidisc without multitracking, the sound was a bit flat, and I'll needed to do some judicious editing on most of the usable material.

The first one was originally almost 9 minutes, and I pared it down to about five and a half. It was recorded most likely between 1993 and 1995. As I'm doing with my commentary thread in the RPGM forum, I'm gonna link here to the main page, and will link directly to the song/its page on subsequent posts.

Feel free to leave feedbacks, plz.

Song number two is now up. As both of these (and probably a few more) were among my first adventures in recording, I decided to place them collectively on an EP called Early Works.

    Here's the link.

Neither track really goes anywhere. The programming needs work, those breaks at the beginning of fading out are WAY too long. I literally breathed a sigh of relief when the ambiance finally kicked in a half a minute into the song. Once it gets going its fine, but again, it just kinda seems content to sit on that one hook and really go nowhere with it.

Thanks for the feedback. These tracks were recorded live to minidisc, so I have no capability to reprogram them. I merely truncated them from their full-length versions and added some depth. And yes, in my earlier stuff, I do rely too heavily on finding one interesting-sounding "hook," changing up the surrounding material, but letting the hook and/or the beat continue without a break. I've got one more I'm gonna post in a bit here, and then I think I'm gonna rip some of my newer material (mostly atmospheric dark ambient-ish stuff).

        Again, thanks for the feedback.
