hello all. this is a suggestion.
since we all know a new rpg maker is never going to come out and i mean NEVER we sould make our own rpg maker type game and post it on the site.we could link it to the site so that we could eseyly upload our games to the site and have a sprite maker.
now im going to go out on a limb and try to read your mind. the more expeirenced pavillionites (im looking at you valk.) will say "that is not the purpose of the site." well mabey if we built a new rpg type game on here itll shock enterbrain into making a new rpg maker for us to play with.
or thayel demand we take it down.
either way i think it would generate some "tourism" for the site.

think about it.

Are you talking console RPG Makers? or PC RPG Makers?

Because the PC RPG Maker series is still very much alive, and will have more installments.

The console RPG Maker series is also still alive, with RPG Tsukuru DS being released in japan early this year.

It doesn't work that way. They just released IG Maker on PC, and RPG Tsukuru DS on... DS. New RPG Maker software takes time to make.

They would not, and could not do that. They could raise issue if we used the "RPG Maker" name, but that's all.

I'm surprised this hasn't been explicitly mentioned already, so I'll just say it. This would take tens of thousands of man-hours, considerable skill in programming, spirte art, interface design, and so on, as well as a shared set of tools and ideas.

In other words, it would mean making a professional game with none of the resources and no monetary reward, for the purpose of "shocking enterbrain into making a new rpg maker for us to play with" and "generating some "tourism" for the site".

With tons of respect to this community, which has produced some truly cool and unique stuff for the RPG Makers, we couldn't even get a Pavilion-wide RPG Maker game off of the ground. I don't think a single submission to the site has ever involved (in a major capacity) more than two people. How the hell do you expect the community to make an actual RPG Maker?

And while suggestions are sincerely appreciated, I still have to declare this one of those ideas that will never see the light of day "and i mean NEVER".

Yeah, there's also the little matter of us not having enough people with programming experience. We would have to hire people.

I think I stopped following that thread, but don't recall where it was when he last mentioned it...

Was it even at the point of playable demo yet?

Something like that could be done by just a few people. A couple artists, and a coder or three. Maybe.

I'm not good enough at it to help much, but have access to an adobe suite at my employment, with Flash and all the other programs to support it.

Hey, one more thing I want to say, Spirit of Fate, since I was a little harsh yesterday (even though I think everything I said is still valid):

It's a neat dream you have, and I think it's cool that you're passionate about trying to make another console Maker come along. It's just that what you were mentioning is more or less infeasible right now. Between that and the tone you've taken throughout the topic, I got a little miffed at you.

It's sooooo much easier said than done, and that's why the idea can't carry a lot of weight until you make the first several steps of it happen. If you DO manage that, rest assured you will be able to turn a lot of heads, and maybe get some help on it as well.
