Re: Tron Legacy
The kind that knows plasmas are better for 3D than LCD/LEDs, and that does not have close to $2000 to drop on a Panasonic.
The C490 Samsung is not top-of-the-line by any stretch, and I'm well aware of this. However, I'm a big fan of plasmas, and sell as many if not more of them than I do LCD/LEDs, but have yet to own one. Therefore, as the PS3 is a 3D gaming system/Blu-Ray player, I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, and put a 3D Samsung 50" on layaway at work. It was under $900 with my discount, and came with 2 pairs of glasses.
Mainly, I got it for 3D gaming (specifically, the Team Ico collection and (probably) The Last Guardian). 3D movies will be nice, too.

And pronz.
*** END SPOILERS ***
As an addendum, I'm personally NOT really a big fan of the Samsungs this year. Nor am I a big fan of Panasonic (well, at least their entry-level TVs). I'm liking LG more and more, and Sony is right back where they need to be.Last edited by Perversion; 11-29-2010, 09:27 PM.

Re: Mora and Perv discuss the merits of 3D TVs (to avoid Tron clutter)
I finally got a HDTV a year ago and since I don't watch anything HD it really wasn't worth it. Well it wouldn't be if not for the fact my old tv was dying and I got two for the price of one. I guess I might buy a 3D tv like five or ten years from now when they're cheap and probably have just as little use for it.I want that Mulan McNugget sauce, Morty!

Thanks to you, John Mora, I'm gonna pay off my Samsung layaway today, return it, and put the money toward putting the Panasonic GT-25 on layaway. 2 glasses, a Blu-Ray player, and Avatar in 3D come with it, and the only way to get Avatar in 3D right now is by buying a 3D Panasonic.
People are apparently selling the aformentioned movie on ebay for $175.

I never understood the point of a TV that only you and maybe a friend could watch. From what I hear if you don't have the glasses 3d TVs are really hard to look at.
If I wanted that, I would rather just get a 3d computer monitor/card/glasses as those are more personal.
At least there's also a HUGE FREAKIN LIST of games the support it now.

Hrrrm.Originally posted by PervAlso, she's green? I thought it was a lighter-skinned black girl.
As far as 3D goes, if they can figure a way to do it without me wearing glasses, I might be interested. I'll pass until then.So you're a fish out of water...
Keep swimming.
What else can you do?

And I'm interested in it (the 3DS), although the price-tag is kinda steep. I'm willing to wait for a library of four or five must-haves before I'd pick it up.
For TVs, most of the movies that have come out in 3D, I could give two ****s about, so I'm less enthused about them.
Just out of curiosity, what do you watch in 3D that you feel makes it an experience that shouldn't be missed?Last edited by Shard; 12-17-2010, 02:26 PM.So you're a fish out of water...

Coraline, Avatar, How to Train Your Dragon and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs are all good movies made even better with 3D, IMO. Of course, you can wait to see where studios are going with 3D movies in the future. It's certainly not a market ready for mass audiences yet, with all the manufacturer exclusives and a library dedicated mostly to animated and family films.
