Yet another case of someone's cohabitant killing her child by another male because the child's crying was disturbing his TV/video games/whatever. I've read about so many of these that I barely notice them any more.

Is it not enough to be human anymore? Do people to have some sort of "special" quality for us to care whether they live or die? How about this:

Someone's daughter died She was beaten to death For crying
Her mother Looked on Her mother who Remembers reading
As she lay in bed Her mother Looks on As she lay in bed.

I'm not going to say that we need to get sentimental over these stories, that we need to mourn and cry and wail and beat the air around our fists or that we need to catalog these things in our mind, that we should have a list of things humans have done to other humans atrocious things, that they should follow us like admonishing ghosts- but can we at least have a little respect for the dead? can we escape, if only for these fleeting moments in the face of atrocity, this constant need of naming of valuation of mediation? or must we continue this discussion of whether or not this girl possessed a life that had Hrafn's acceptable level of worth to live?
