    November 5th

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder Treason
    Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
    Three-score barrels of powder below
    To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*)
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holla boys, Holla boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

I just watched V for Vendetta less than a month and a half ago for the first time, so it's a bit early to watch it again. I have the graphic novel, though. Might give that a perusal.

Symbols change over time. Guy Fawkes is romanticized for doing what he though was right, regardless of the price.

I'm not sure why its celebrated in England, considering they tortured him and mutilated his hands in pursuit of a confession.

                  And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope
