Im sorry this happened to you... (The Walking Dead)
Anybody else catch it!? It was awesome! even though Ive read alot of the books, I cant wait for next weeks episode. Its been so long Ive forgotten alot of the stuff in the books.
It was really good. I like how it's not just an adaptation of the comics, and more of an "expansion" of the story, characters and situations. Like the comics are a blueprint for something sorta new.
For instance,
*** SPOILERS ***
I'm pretty sure there was no mention of that guy's zombie wife in the comic, and that whole intro with the highway shoot-out might be entirely new. Though I'm only a quarter of the way into the comic series, so I'm no expert. :V
*** END SPOILERS ***
And dat ending, man.
Also, Bear McCreary's music and that ****ING MAKE-UP. Holy CATS. That Bicycle Zombie looked amazing.
If this show continues, and it should, that'd be something. A high-quality zombie apocalypse TV show is something I don't mind getting into~
I also gotta get the ball rolling with AMC's other shows.
I really really enjoyed it, because like Magus said, it's an expansion of the established events and characters. It doesn't AT ALL hurry itself along to the next zombie sequence. It lets the characters stew in their own traumatized, reactionary gravies, and it's exquisitely delicious. And the dialogue, my God, what an improvement over the comic.

Im pretty sure that highway scene and the talk they have at the beginning wasnt in the comic.
*** SPOILERS ***
And that talk was pretty boring till the whole "Id never say that in front of my boy." and his partner asking him to open up about his relationship. Then it totally sets it up for the whole "his partner is messing around with his wife now that hes gone." thing.
Also total OH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- moment when he goes around that corner on the horse and theres a street overflowing with zombies. With all that total silence I wasnt expecting anything, and then BAM. ZOMBIES EVERYWHERE.
*** END SPOILERS ***
I thought they set up the "good old boys from down south" pretty well with the scene in the cruiser. Granted, it may not have been the best way to introduce a brand new series to people because it's a slow scene, but it lets you know right off the bat what kind of show you're getting into.

Yeah, that was an odd way to start the show proper, after the intro with the zombie girl. It took a little bit to get used to those accents, too. But foreshadowing paid off.
The Walking Dead, a new series on AMC based on the comic book series of the same name. It's about life during a zombie apocalypse. Zombies are a threat, yeah, but eventually it becomes more about survival among the untrustworthy survivors. Think Battlestar, but instead of space and Cylons it's Georgia and zombies. That's my hope anyway. If the rest of the show holds up to the first episode that's a possibility.
It's headed by Frank Darabont, the guy who directed Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile and, most importantly for this, The Mist, and it stars a few people from The Mist. I think Cybil from the Silent Hill movie (and the female lead in The Mist) will show up eventually.
The make-up's crazy good (it was done by a guy who worked a million movies since Day of the Dead) and the acting and writing's better than expected. The music's also done by Bear McCreary, who did Battlestar and Human Target, so it's good.
Here's the trailer, though I recommend you go in cold (or read the comic?) if you're interested:
Yeah, i was wondering why they focused on him as many times as they did. Maybe he will be the zombie antagonist that always eludes the brain shot, but keeps chasing the main character, that would be funny and creepy at the same time!
I'm honestly amazed at how much i enjoyed it, and how much of it i actually watched (since zombies scare the **** out of me). And the stuff that happened at the end was kinda crazy, but i'm very much looking forward to next Sunday.
I kinda felt like the zombie that got a lot of screen-time was the show's way of saying how some of the zombies are determined to follow the food, and that they are truly an unrelenting tide. Rick sees the zombie shortly after hitting Atlanta and just sorta rides by him without much thought. He rides deeper into the city and runs into the horde on one of the main avenues and runs away, only to get caught up by the milling throng and suddenly that zombie is there again. Following, ever so slowly, the trail.
Of course, I could be wrong.
