    Keiji Inafune has left Capcom

    http://kotaku.com/5676403/mega-mans-...r-quits-capcom

Some of the blog post is translated by kotaku, but a bigger chunk of it was translated by one of the commenters, and I've combined that post's translations with kotaku's own below:

"I'm leaving Capcom with the intention of starting my life over"

"People that really know me, can see where I'm coming from. I'm not a regular dude. It's probably because I'm strange."

"A manager's work means evaluating your subordinates and speaking your dreams. Anyone who can do both of those can be a manager. I thought that when I came here, and I still think that now."

"I've lost the authority to evaluate my subordinates and the qualification to speak about my dreams."

"Capcom is truly a good company. I love Capcom. Probably more than anyone in the world. However, it's not always the case that your hopes are realized. Just as it was with the girlfriend I loved long ago."

"There was a chance that I could continue to be Capcom's power. I bet on that chance until the end. The means of both Capcom and myself to be happy. That was surely possible. However, now that chance is completely closed off."
It's been well known that he hasn't been happy at Capcom for a while, and it's also been well known that despite his position, hasn't been able to make the games he wanted to make (look at how long Legends 3 took to happen as the shining example).

I guess Megaman Legends 3 is his going-away present. It may have been the only thing keeping him at Capcom for a while.

I don't see him leaving the game industry, but if he wants to, that's cool. I just hope that if he stays, he either manages to start up his own company, or get with a western company, and get away from the extremely restricted japanese companies.

Well, if it was, he's showing crappy timing by leaving, since he'll be quitting that project, too!

Not really, since he was able to bring together pretty much the entire original staff. The game is in good hands, and won't suffer at all. He got it greenlit, and honestly, that's probably what the extent of his involvement was going to be even if he stayed at capcom. His position didn't let him get directly involved in games anymore, and that's one of the reasons he wasn't happy there anymore.

If he starts his own company, should be pretty interesting to see what he does.

He'll head over to Grasshopper, I bet. Like everyone else.
