    Small Question about Sharing Games

Hi, I'm obviously new here. I have a simple question.

Is uploading emulator memory card files containing my games against the rules? I know there are other methods to upload creations, but I wanted to know if this method was against the rules. I couldn't find a satisfactory answer on your site rules.

I'd like to know before I start making a game. Thanks

You could. It's unusual, but as long as you're using the actual discs, I don't see a problem. I don't think the files could be converted to gme format for non-emulator use, though. Seeing how easy it is to emulate PS1 games, plenty of people should still be able to play it.

Just make a note when you submit your game as to what format it's in.

Why, I have a question similar to the one who originally posted it! What I'm wondering is whether or not if you can upload files on here that are savestates of the game. The reason I'd do this is if one single memory card wouldn't be enough to hold the entire game, because I don't like using Next Scenario because then I'll find myself getting a "Failed" error message if I try to load the data for the game I'm editing.

      All help is appreciated!

Would that work? Include a note about what exactly the user would have to do to make your game work, if it does.

Ragnarok, under what circumstance are you getting the error message? Because if it's during a test-play, RPGM1 is stupid in that it doesn't allow the function of alternate memory cards during test-play. Every scenario card has to be named the same until you're done, which makes it unneccessarily confusing keeping track of which card is which.

So, you're saying to not name the Scenario Name differently on the next memory card? Because I prefer to have the next memory card say "Memory Card 2" and not "Memory Card 1."

The emulator that I use(epsexe) uses .mcr for memory card files.

Would people use this at all? No sense in me making an RPG with RM1 if no one is going to play it. I'm only making a game with it because it was my first RM and I feel the need to publish my first game as a "tribute" to it.

Well, all you'd have to do is maybe download another .GME file from the Internet, maybe change it's name, delete all the data from the memory card, and happy RPG making!

To respond to Valkysas' question, what I'm saying is one would have to use ePSXE(a popular PSX emulator)to play the RPG on Test Play mode. Of course, I'm assuming that the player isn't gonna mess with the Test Play controls.

But, I might be able to use a .GME file to get it to work on the console, although then I'd be limiting how good I could make my RPG...

That's up to you, but epsxe can't make GME files to the best of my knowledge. It can read them, but if you try saving after loading that file, it'll make a mcr file.

It's been a while since I used the emulator, so maybe I'm wrong.

As long as the game is submitted in a way someone could play it, we'll host it. You just have to document with your submission (ideally in the zip file and in the submission post) how to play it, so people aren't confused.

Awesome! All I'd really have to do is have a .GME file ready when my game is finished, and copy all the RPG data over to the .GME file and then it should work on the consoles.

                    Thanks!

                      Only for test-play.

Also, I think I managed to save to a .gme card. I don't have ePSXe on my new machine yet, though, so hard to say for sure.
