    PC game recommendations?

I've recently come to the realization that I haven't sat down and played a vidya game in at least 8 months, and am experiencing withdrawal. Don't have any consoles since the big transatlantic move, so all I have is my PC until I fork out enough for a 360 (which won't be for at least a few more months).

So are there any PC games worth checking out?

Other than Starcraft 2, I mean.

      Mass Effect 1/2
      Amnesia: Dark Descent
      Recettear
      Fallout New Vegas(this tuesday)
      Torchlight

      And I'm damned if I do and I'm damned if I don't
So here's to drinks in the dark at the end of my road
And I'm ready to suffer and I'm ready to hope

Minecraft - ~$15 nets you a very nice sandbox game that only promises to get better. Once the multiplayer kinks are worked out, it will be like playing Lego Fortress.

Dwarf Fortress - No explanation needed, or on the contrary, tons of explanation needed. A very punishing game that rewards you with more punishment. Which can be a lot of fun. What's great about it is how it creates these incredible Tolkein-ish stories from what's basically random computer generated programming. Much imagination needed to fill the gaps.

League of Legends - It's free multiplayer. .... It's free multiplayer. No seriously, it's fun competetive play.
          ...and that's why.

Team Fortress 2 is the best FPS Team game ever, period, end of story.

I never really liked FPS games, but I play TF2 all the time. It's just that good.

                    Re: PC game recommendations?

TF2 never struck me as much as Counter-Strike, which in my mind is still the king of team-based competitive shooters, but it is pretty wacky fun. I'd love to play it again once my PC's back up and running.

Sejon, I'll just list my favorite PC games evar and if they're available anywhere you should try 'em out:

                    TIE Fighter
                    Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight
                    Left4Dead
                    Left4Dead 2
                    Max Payne
                    Max Payne 2
                    Portal
                    Half-Life 2 and its episodes
                    Deus Ex
Starcraft 1, which we still play

                    tl;dr Anything by Valve

                      Re: PC game recommendations?

                      I'd recommend:

                      Starcraft 1&2
                      Warcraft III
                      Portal
Garrys Mod (You can spend hours doing whatever you want on this game, and with an online database of items/weapons/vehicles/npcs it's just great. I've saw Teletubbies fight Diablos (off of Monster Hunter), while diglets where swarming the ground)
                      Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Sol Survivor (If you like turret defense)
Blur or Dirt 2 (If you like racing)
                      World of Goo
                      Supreme Commander 1 and 2
                      Alien Swarm
                      Bioshock 2

                      I wouldn't play:

Mass Effect 2 (Not for PC, it's so obvious it's a port. It plays and looks like crap. Unless if mine messed up or something)

                        Re: PC game recommendations?

TF2 is way better now that all of the classes have had their updates, along with the new Polygon Pack. There is enough variety between classes, and since their equipment changes playstyle it is way more fun than Counterstrike.

Mainly due to the fact that everyone who's super good at CS will just one-shot kill you with the Desert Eagle. That ain't fun.

Muse, your computer probably just sucks. ME2 is way better than the 360 version if you have a computer that can handle it. That is, unless you LIKE pausing epic battles to issue squad commands because you don't have a keyboard?

I keep hearing about this Minecraft craze and am a bit confused as to why. It looks like all you do is build landscapes out of blocks? Looks like I'd have to play it to understand its appeal.

And thanks for the suggestions thus far!

One game I was hovering over at the store was Crysis. Has anyone played that?
