    I've got a few questions

    1. As far as Dexdrives go, my older brother had one at one point, but when he used it, he only had a chance to use it once. After that, it broke. Could anyone tell me what might've happened, because, as much as I like making RPGs for my older brother to play, I think it'd be more worth my time if I'd make something for more than just one person.

    2. I heard, on Dias Flac's FAQ on GameFAQs that you can make custom battle systems. While I've heard it's hard, how does one do it?

    All help is appreciated!

Re: I've got a few questions

my dex must be divine as i rarely have problems with it and nothing to brick it. is your symptoms something akin to the drive not turning on? if so when this happens to me i unplug it at the device and replug it in or unplug it from my computer and replug it in and exit and reload the program. this has kept my going forward for 10 years now.

as for the custom battle system it is doable but it eats up a lot of space so its hardly worth it for most games. you basically use switches, page conditions, 2-3 way switches, and a bunch of other stuff to make it happen. it really depends on what you want to happen during your custom battle.

      1. I think the device just broke. But, if what you say is true, then I can ask him to try and buy another one off of Ebay or something 'cause I think he threw it away or something when it broke. Although, I can't say for sure.

      2. Eats up a lot of space? Oh well. I guess that's something I shouldn't pursue then.

      3. As far as Next Scenario goes, what must one do EXACTLY for it to work without some error occuring when I go to load up the Edit data?

Re: I've got a few questions

to prevent people from cheating and problems i made a single small room to use as the swap point. i make a save function in that room and tell the player to please save. then i use the switch scenario feature and it loads up the other data. after the data i have another save point. what this does is makes sure the players game is saved before the swap, and make sure they dont have to re swap the data if something happens before they reach a game save point. the name can be anything you want, just make sure its the same name as the one you pointed the event to.

also note that when swapping data the treasure chests will reset so if you dont want a player to botch the game up then manually make switched treasure chests for the game shattering ones. other then thats its very easy.

Having double save points is especially useful for when you test play, as the function doesn't work in test play. You'd have to save, and then continue in the next card.

OK, but my problem is that I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the Scenario Name on the System Data. Am I supposed to change it, or should I leave it as it is, because I did it one time, and then it caused my game to break down and I couldn't load up the data again.

Re: I've got a few questions

I thought that the Scenario name fields had to match for them to load (i.e., The Next Scenario name = The Scenario Name on the next card). Its been forever since I've popped RPGM-anything in. Dray or Karr should know for sure....seeing as they are the experienced few that actually are still making their game/carrying out misc. projects with it. You inspiring creative cats, you.

Nah, the scenario name on the system card has to be the same as your first scenario card.

What about the "Next Scenario" command though? That doesn't have to match the "Next Scenario" card? Wierd.

I never got to use Next Scenario, so I only had a theory. That and I haven't used the software in forever, as I said.

Wow, really, Dragyone? Wonder what happened that gave me a failed to load data message, then...

Re: I've got a few questions

This occurs when you just try to load the scenario data to edit? I'm afraid, then, that the data might be corrupted.

Try loading it first (before the system data) and see what happens. If it's corrupted, you'll get the same error. Doesn't matter if the system data is loaded or not.

What sort of memory card are you using? If you're using a third-party card, stop using it and buy yourself an official Sony card. Third-party cards are notorious for corrupting your data.

Re: I've got a few questions

Trust me; I load the Scenario first, then the System. But, I do use third-party memory cards when I make an RPG on the Playstation. I'd like to say that I could use a standard memory card, but where am I supposed to conveniently get one, other than Ebay?

And, while we're on that subject, would making an RPG on an emulator(like ePSXE) cause my data to get corrupted?

Re: I've got a few questions

It wouldn't corrupt the data, but game-making on an emulator is a bit of a pain, especially for games that require a third memory card. If the "please insert card with this data" message pops up, you're skrewed, 'cause ePSXe doesn't recognize when you "put in" a different card.

Anyway, I'd recommend Amazon.com for official memory cards.

It does; You might have to wait a few seconds for it to recognize it. Or, if needs be, I can always upload a game that runs off of a save state, as much as I hate to do this, as one could always end up turning the invincibility on or something. But, hey, you were a great help, Dragyone! Thanks!

Gah. This happened to me when I used a third-party memory card. One of those multi-page ones.
