If you're comfortable enough with the people there, go for it.

I don't really see the point in it. If it comes up then I would talk about it or something, but I don't feel the need to tell everyone I am straight, why should a gay/lesbian person feel the need to tell everyone at a job? Why should it matter?

Personally, I would just let it come out naturally. I think we are getting into a time where its more accepting and common in everyday life to see all kinds of relationships and have it more or less accepted, if at least acknowledged.

It's not going to come out naturally. I've never been asked. Ever. Or even about my personal life.

If it's important for people there to know that, sure. Otherwise you could just whip it out the next time someone makes a gay joke. :B

Then why let them know if they don't care about your personal life?

At the most inappropriate and awkward time possible, such as when you're peeing next to someone in the bathroom.

                  I fully support this.

Bonus points for doing the toilet-stalls-foot-tapping thing that got that one politician in trouble.

Straight, gay, Bi, asexual, hermathrodite, robot, it doesn't matter!!

You are who you are. People have no "right" to know your orientation.

It just seems like attention whoring to me. If they really wanted to know, somebody would have asked. These days being gay isnt all that big a deal.

"Its national coming out day today. Did you guys know Im totally fabulous?"

"Uh huh, thats nice. Jim and Adam over in HR are gay too. Have been for years. Get back to work."

Eh, I dunno. The whole counterpoint to the "I'm straight, you don't see me bragging about it!" arguement is that everyone assumes you are straight off the bat, so you never have to :V

EDIT-btw it's still a pretty "big deal" to be gay in most parts of this country and probably in canada, too!

Except that identifying and living life as gay or lesbian automatically removes several civil rights, such as marriage and military service. And that's without getting into people's personal prejudices and bigoted behavior.

When people go on talking about their family, wife, kids, boyfriends/girlfriends, I usually just stay silent.

Anyone who has been in office culture knows this happens A LOT.

Most awkward convo is when my boss asked me if I was married, and was surprised cuz I seem like the type, and I'm not getting any younger.
