Ok so i ordered MGS2 off ebay and got it a few days later, i plop it in and my ps2 starts making this fast clicking noise, it pops up as disk can not be read, the disk doesnt have one scratch on it and all my other games work
I've had that problem with MGS2. My first copy started doing it a couple years after I bought it. So I bought another copy and it worked for a little while and started doing the same thing. Bad news is I think all copies of MGS2 end up doing that eventually. I don't think there is anything that can be done about it. Try taking it back and getting another copy, maybe you can find one that will work.
I don't see how a simple disc would cause hardware to click. My first PS2 made the same clicking noise shortly before it died(The clicking is either the drive mechanism of the Disk tray, or the laser slipping).
Edit; MGS2 was one of the first PS2 games on a DVD, wasn't it?
I think MGS2 games just give out after so many hours of play. Mine started with not playing the cut-scenes then eventually just bought the big one. It was the same story, rest of my games worked fine, but MGS2 just wouldn't. No scratches, just wouldn't read the disk. Might be a problem with the disk reader, MGS2 might be on a different type of disk than your other games.
