Pretty much. Mine seems to always occur just has I'm transitioning from being awake into sleep. Like an explosion going off in your head, it doesn't sound like it's from an external source. Then you just get annoyed, and go back to bed. I've had it happen like four times in a row once, but most of the time I don't experience it.

thats happened to me before
for me it seemed to be stress related
lead to insomnia

I've had similar things happen, but for me it's a loud sound that wakes me up in a panic, but I can't account for the noise. I get up, turn on the light and look for it, too. There's nothing that's fallen over, or out of place. I mean the sound is REALLY loud. But for me it seems like it's coming from outside of my head.

It's actually just a demon or a ghost. I have one that wakes me up in the middle of the night with strange sounds too. But instead of a loud noise it is more like someone knocking on something. Steady and constant, until I wake up enough to realize what is going on, then it disappears.

Could be an alien abduction too, I suppose.
