    The Social Network

Yeah, the Facebook movie. I wasn't expecting to look forward to this...at all. But then I found out that it's directed by David Fincher. And written by Aaron Sorkin. And I like both of these guys' stuff. And it's being called one of the best movies of the year, already with Oscar talk and calling it our generation's Network. Oh yeah...and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes so far.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to this one.

    Re: The Social Network

I have nothing but disdain for Facebook itself, and wish very much I could abandon it (stupid work, making me use it). But I am interested in spite of myself for two reasons. One being Fincher, and that he had to have a reason for approaching something that is, on the surface, seemingly mundane. Two being the first trailer, which is just the best all-around preview I've seen in two years. And it's not just the music. Although that is definitely part of it, the funereal ring of the Radiohead cover lends gravitas to a story that otherwise seems like it bears too many similarities to the upper-crust nihilist sagas Bret Easton Ellis writes.

Yeah...just read a few reviews while searching for Let Me In reviews, and although I was sorta optimistic about this before, this looks as if it'll be pretty great.

I'm guessing it isn't entirely a pro-Facebook movie, based solely on that opening montage in the first trailer. Maybe I'm wrong, but those images coupled with that song say to me that it was a comment on the banality of Facebook, and the latent attention whoring that motivates virtually everything about it.

Yeah, and from what I was reading, the main character comes across as pretty much a straight-up douchewizard.

From what's been said, this is less about Facebook than the people behind it, to the fact where I've seen the word, "Shakespearean" being bandied about.

And I guess it's more a comment on the times we live in than specifically about Facebook. And if Fincher chose the project, that tells me that there's more to it than just glorifying Facebook.

I think it looks real good.

The RPG Maker Pavilion movie should follow suit.

                    The Social Network seems interesting.

That, or it's just gonna be 2 hours of people posting constant updates to very stupid and minor things in their lives from their cell phones that no one else cares about at all.

It's not a movie about people using Facebook. It's about the people that created Facebook. Please make this distinction.

                        It could be interesting.

btw "I hate facebook guy" is just as lame as "I post on facebook all the time guy"

I really have no desire to see another david fincher movie after Benjamin Button.

You know, Timberlake isn't half bad in his capacity as an actor. And he as a person doesn't annoy me nearly as much as other pop / hip-hop people do. I think your dislike of him is dated, vague, and unfounded.

No, he really isn't. One reason? He doesn't update his status to tell people he hates Facebook.

I haven't seen Button, but it's not like it was Fincher's first bad movie. There was Alien 3, for one. But a director's occasional missteps do not keep them from ever achieving redemption. Lest we forget that before Ridley Scott gave us Gladiator, his previous film had been....G.I. Jane. I think that says it all.
