    RPG Maker 3.....Checkers?

A long long time ago (but not quite far far away), some chump made a BS claim that he made a chess game in RPGM3. Now, we all know the amount of events is impossible to reach for chess....but what about checkers?

I haven't tried this myself yet, but here are my observations:

checkers is far more primitive in concept than chess. It has only half as many spaces, only 2 game piece types (regular and king), and the pieces can only move diagonally.

if cheskers is also impossible, please let me know.

Would you create this game in a dungeon, in a field, or in a town?

If you were actually going to try, you might have to have smaller than normal chess board since the standard board has twenty four pieces. Along with each piece being an event (which would have to switch on and off - very annoying), there would be other events (auto events) that would control things.

If you were to try to create a semi-checkers game in a field, you could use events with decorative objects on top as the checker pieces, but again you would have to do a very small version of a checker board.

    Also,
There are actually four piece types.
regular - Red (or whatever color)
king - Red (or whatever color)
regular - Black (or whatever secondary color)
king - Black (or whatever secondary color)

I don't know if it would be worth your time, but you might be able to make a semi-checkers very simplified variation. I don't know how well it would stand on its own as a game. Maybe it would be worth trying it as a mini-game inside of another larger story.

A full scale game of checkers could not be done on RM3 because you'd run out of events (etc.) to use - not because of the coding, but because of the physical objects. You'd need at least 32.

Even if you had enough physical models, I think that while you could technically code it, the interface would by necessity have to be absolutely horrible.

I say this as a friend - don't bother trying to make this on RM3. Use a different piece of software.

Sorry I made you feel that way, D. There are only a few people at the Pav I dislike and it's because I think they're either mean or disingenuous. You're neither.

A while back some of your posts did annoy me because they felt like they were screaming for attention, but that doesn't mean you're a bad guy, and besides, you've gotten a lot better about that recently.

And I'm glad you're around, because the RPG Maker forums would get pretty quiet sometimes without you

I'll admit, looking back on my old posts here, I was an annoying little prick.
