That's pretty funny. For those curious enough, there are programs that let you find where you are sitting in the Pokemon random number generator and practices you can do in order to tick the generator forward until your next encounter is guaranteed to be shiny. It sounds lame, but taking two hours to figure out how to do that endlessly is still less a waste of time than the dozens of hours it might take to get just one shiny encounter randomly. Even still, if you care enough to get a shiny, you should probably just hack it. Though, you really should not even bother at all.

you could just like, play the game normally and find one on happenstance and be all, "Oh, that's cool. Lucky me." Because that's what it was designed to be like.

It took that kid 100 hours, A HUNDRED. FOR ONE POKEMON. 6 MONTHS.

I've not invested that kind of time in a game since my first Morrowind file, and have never before that.

Rare drop items suck.

Im talking about YOU Rathalos and Rathian plates in the first Monster Hunter! 1% drop chance on one carve per hunt my ass. More like 0.00001%.

i remember doing something similar in an old online game. used to hunt hundreds of hours to find the highest rares which had outrageous drop rates. i never managed to get anything more then a once a month drop. the best drop weekend i ever had i made 5 million which amounted to 3 supper rare drops over 48 hours. one such drop was the top two rares in one monster - thats rare.

anyway, is this pony thing any good or is it just a novelty rare? i cant even summon enough energy to get anymore traps in ff13, no way id sit and try for a ponny thing.

Bad luck. The odds are 1 in 8198 (IIRC) of encountering a shiny.

What the hell's special about shiny Pokemon?? They're no better than normal Pokemon, and because hatching one is nigh impossible it's more than likely they'll be weaker. They're a complete waste of my time.
